Thanks. I know where they are for sale, just would like some real-world experiences from people that have owned/run/maintained them.

Stormrider 10-27-2010 09:52 AM

I wasn't trying to show them for sale, just power/speeds w/ examples.

Stormrider 10-27-2010 09:55 AM

BTW, Charlie McCarthy had a 38 open built light, so you might want to contact him.
I don't think many here have much experience w/ these bigger boats. They are in a different catergory.

I was only 7-10yo when we had ours, so I don't have that much detail.

Appreciate it. Thank you.

Not of the engines, I do have pics of me and my malamute on the back of it cruising over to Gilberts. Next time i see it Ill take pics of the triple drives since its a lot easier than getting that engine/floor hatch open.
He did all the work himself, bought basically an empty shell and restored and rerigged the whole boat himself. He used to rig all the Carrera race boats so he is good at it just doesnt like doing ti for anybody else anymore.
His original plan was 3 Yanmars with arnesons but the cost was just out of reach so he went the mercruiser route, now he wishes he hadnt because the straight Yanmars would have been a much better fit physically than the V8 powerstrokes. Basically he has to pull the center engine anytime he needs to any
kind of work on it,its that tight..
I was wrong about the drives though he runs diesel Bravos on the outside and a Bravo 3? (dual prop) in the center, he wanted to be able to plane off on just the center engine and he got that. He says it would be faster with 3 normal Bravos but he wasnt looking for all out speed anyways.

The sound of all those turboes at full song will give you a woody though,LOL..

You cant really see much of it but this is us at the Keys at the dock,on our way to Elliot Key abds partying at Gilberts later.Im wearing the marine machine Tshirt

Did someone say Magnum?

I'm not very old (37), however, being a big guy, I admit I am certainly a bit slow, but my lady doesn't seem to mind...she seems to like me anyways
