Pics-Upper Mississippi Rat Run 2002
 

The first Friday in May every years since before I was born is the Rat Run. The men take Friday off work, leave the woman home and start the season off with a run. The where expected to be a 100 boats this year. The chilly weather lower the actual count to right around 50, most of which where performance boat.

Our Group of 10 boats left from Great River Harbor. After waiting for the frost to melt off the boat we headed out a little later than scheduled. First stop was an all you can eat breakfast buffet at Slippery in Wabasha. Then up to Long Point beach near Lake City to meet up with everyone else. Out next stop was the Harbor bar in Red Wing. After the usuall harrasment from the local water patrol(see below)we decided to skip going north farther and head south. After a high speed run down Lake Pepin we stoped at the Pickle Factory Bar in Pepin WI. One last WOT run took us back to the harbor. Undeniable a great day on the water despite the cold weather.
