Missing
Help, I'm new to the boating thing, I have a 1988 baja Force 320 with twin 300hp, but am missing the port sterndrive I need to know what I need to purchase in the way of drive and prop re rotation

You just need to figure out what kind of drive you're running, & buy a new, or rebuilt replacement. It's probably either an Alpha, or Bravo drive.
I'm assuming you aren't missing the gibal housing, etc.....which is the part that the drive bolts to on the rear of the boat. Call these guys for more info, & buying a replacement: www.dolleroffshore.com Good luck! |

If you need a bravo one Ill sell you one for $2,500. I also have the gibal assembly and housing you can have everything for 3K call or text me 225-205-4321 Nate |
That boat would have 1.5:1 bravo drives. With bravos the props can spin either ccw or cw depending on cable/shifter setup. In 1988 the bravos came as a closed unit. In later years the drives came with a lube reservoir mounted in the engine compartment. There were some other internal oiling changes in the drives too that differ from 88-89 models years and the newer ninties and up drives. Additionally, the older drives had a shorter lower unit (front to back) so to match your current drive you will need a same vintage drive, or replace both.
I have a couple 88/89 1.5:1 drives without the lube reservoir if you are interested. PM me if you are. BT |
Not sure but if its the small block 350/300 hp Tempest then its a Alpha drive. Need a little more info big block small block?

In 1988, 1989, & 1990 I believe Baja also used OMC King Cobras on some of their boats. My 89 Baja Sport 226 came with the OMC package and at the time I was also looking at the Force 32 with twin OMC packages.

I know it's an Alpha Dr 1st generation, I just don't know if both drives rotate the same direction
|
You would be better off having drives that spin in opposite rotations. A lot of Bajas had RH drives on both sides.
I would just go with an SEI drive http://www.sterndrive.cc/outdrives.htm |
What am I missing here? Those are some great prices...wonder what the quality of the gears and components are?
