Default East Coast Poker Run Bests

What is the best Poker Run on the East Coast?
*Best Overall Poker Run--- Is.... insert name of run.

Sub-Categories:

1. Best Organization.

2. Best Location.

3. Best Pay Out on Poker Hands.

4. Best Crowd of Performance Boaters.

5. Best Food & Drink.

6. Biggest Turnout of Boats Sheer Numbers.

Note: If I missed a sub-category put one up.

If you were doing a bucket list of Poker Runs on the East Coast which ones would you recommend and why?

I would like to attend some Poker Runs on the East side of the Mississippi for 2011 and wanted some real boater input from actual participants.

Thanks,

KAP

Sub-Categories:

1. Best Organization. NJPPC or CBPBA - They really have their poop in a group.
2. Best Location. NJPPC Chesapeake Rendezvous - a great 5 day trip. ...or any event on the Bay.
3. Best Pay Out on Poker Hands. Zero; no muss/no fuss. I never win anyway. (OK - Just once..)
4. Best Crowd of Performance Boaters. See #2
5. Best Food & Drink. #2 - Far and away.
6. Biggest Turnout of Boats Sheer Numbers. I stay away from those.

Note: If I missed a sub-category put one up.

If you were doing a bucket list of Poker Runs on the East Coast which ones would you recommend and why?
  1. Anything the NJPPC does.
  2. The Northern Chesapeake Poker Run out of Port Deposit / Tome's Landing Marina. Nice low-pressure event that covers some beautiful locations.
  3. Chesapeake Bay Power Boat Association events. Great people and great water.
  4. 1000 Islands. Amazing location.
  5. Smith Mountain Lake Poker Run. Super-friendly, and just the right size.

Thanks Chuck for the high praises!

And for teaching us a new expression "They really have their poop in a group" LOL!

Yeah Chuck, what Dave said! One thing that we always try to do is make new people feel welcome, we are a social organization and not doing PRs for profit, it is all about the good time and making sure everyone has one. We are also blessed with a great venue (the Bay) and some very supportive restaurants and bars on the water.
One run Chuck did not mention is Jammin on the James. I did it this year for the first time and it was off da hook. Much larger and a little more chaotic but well worth the trip. Once you do it you'll understand

Jammin on the James is on a short list of "must do's" the people are great so is the dock party. Its one of the few runs where you really get to run your boat its 90 miles one way.
Bill Pyburn's run in Jax. is great 3 day event, great venue, all ways something going on.
For those who feel intimidated by, or dont like the events with the big hardware. Maryland Powerboats puts on 2-3 great events a year. Mostly on the Patuxent river, pays as you go, no entry fee, buy into poker hands. Usually 4-5 stops ending at a well know watering hole, Veras White Sands.
The people are great, the river is perfect for any size boat. With the economy the way its been, the run is becoming more and more popular, as witnessed by the increasing number of boats at each event. Its not unusual to have 35-40 boats, at each run.
Check them out at marylandpowerboatclub.com

Smith Mountain Lake poker run is the most beautiful location I have been to for a poker run. Never ran it before last year. Since moving the start and return location to Mariners Landing
its really a run that I plan on making every year.
Heres a picture from the air of Mariners landing last years home of the poker run.

Comment:

C-Spray thanks for the great response. We have done most if not all the West Coast Poker Runs.

From what I have heard the NJPPC is a great group of peeps and boaters. I'm told it is worth a trip from out West classy organization and performance boaters.

We have room to do at least 2 runs.

Sounds like NJPPC is number one on the East Coast. Jammin on the James running second we know a few boaters on this run.

What about New York Poker Run, Emerald Coast [need more info on that one], and Jacksonville.
Ted G wrote: "we try and make new people feel welcome"
That is very important... last thing I want is to come out 3000 plus miles for a poker run and have a snobby crowd where we do not feel welcome....

Thus, far the Mid-West boaters have the best hospitality and comaraderie we've experienced. Hoping the East Coast runs rival if not surpass all of our expectations.

The New Jersey folks sound like a top notch organization and they have their "poop in a group" damn that is one funny quote...LMAO.
