Gullies is a fun place but docking space is very limited.

MWL
Where are you out of and what kind of boat you own....I'm from Albany area also. Where is gullies?
Bo |
gullies is a great place any day of the week. most night they have a live band. Food is good, there is a nice restaurant downstairs. Week night it gets packed . some times over crowded that I would rather chill on the boat than be at the bar. dock space is limited but people come and go all the time. 1/4 mile up the river is Front St. Its a indoor/ outdoor night club. The kiddies are inside and the adults hang outside. docking there is limited. There is no cover charge if you come by boat.

Gullies
Where is it? Upper Hudson or Lower? Kingston Area?
|
Its about a mile or less south of the Newburg/Becon Bridge. on the west side. It is a floating barge that was converted into bar. look for the blue canopy roof.

Hot boat
Did you take the boat out yet.

Dave the boat is down a Typhoon Marine waiting for the motor to be installed. They had a few hold up on the motor because of problems with the carburetor Co. they sent it to but in the end it was worth the wait. The dyno results came out higher then expected. 598 hp on a 454 with a 177 blower. I don't have the complete break down yet but when I do I will post the results and the internals of the motor. There seems to be a problem with a leaky valve guide dripping water into the exhaust chamber when the motor gets hot so the pulled off the head. It should be fixed soon and I hope to see the boat at the end of the month. As soon as I get it I will be heading to gullies. I cant wait. Maybe I can make it there with out blowing the motor this time. I will make it a point to get together with the local OSO members there. I will have to take a few trips to Kingston to break in the motor, anyone want to come along????

We will have to make a run down there.Your boat sould fly this year with 600 hp.

Gullies
We have been out testing/tuning our new motor a couple of times and finally have it about done. We launch out of the Albany
area and plan on getting a lot of use out of the boat this year. We go to Kingston just about every weekend. We also go to the NYC Poker run every year. Do you guys hit the Poker run at all? How limited is the docking at Gullies and is there alternative docking areas if Gullies docks are packed? Bo |
Front street no longer has dock space available...
Front street removed their docks and from what I have heard will not be putting them back in.. They were supposed to be bulding 150 - 200 slips, but heard the DEC put a hold on it... Dont' know whats going on with them now..
Gully's has about dock space for about 12 boats, and thats it,,, people do come and go, so you can usually get one without a problem. I was there on saturday around 7 pm, pretty descent crowd, The food is also pretty good... |
50 new transient slips being put in between front street and torches. that will let you experience all the rest of the great newburgh waterfront establishments like the blue martini, cena 2000, the black rooster and torche's. front street is not putting their docks back in. weeknights are best at gully's. place gets packed.
|
Keep me in mind if anyone wants to get together at Gullies. Is anyone planning on leaving Newburgh to watch the NYC poker run at The TZ bridge? If we could get a few boats together to run down that would be fun. Just let me know.
Dave |
Dave,
Myself and a few others are leaving Gully's around 9am. Probably heading down to GWB to catch the start and then the festivities afterwards at Chelsea. Brian |
How have you been Brian?
I will probobly leave around 10:00 am, and only go as far as the TZ bridge. (I prefer to see the boats under full throttle) I might get to the ramp around 9:00 am and say hello to you and anyone else that is there. Have you had the boat out yet? OT: only 5 more years to retirement! Dave |
Dave,
Been awhile since I've seen you around. Hope everything is good. I splashed 5/22(late for me) and have been out 3 times. Ran great each time out. We're leaving between 9 and 10, probably 4 or 5 boats, and heading to Liberty and then returning north late in the day. Feel free to jump in with us to the TZB. Give me a call at NWPD a few days before (10p-6a) and I'll be able to give you more info. Brian 8 more years for me, but I'll probably stay a little longer. Getting paid to ride a Harley ain't so bad... |
