Default Need advice on poker run stops...

We are setting up the stops for the Chattanooga Fun Run next May and would like your opinions.

Option A:
Leave at 11:00 and first stop is 10 miles away for LUNCH. continue to second stop 36 miles away. turn around, go back 15 miles for 3rd stop. go 15 more miles for 4th stop. then 16 miles to last stop and raft up.

Option B:
Leave at 11:00 and first stop is 46 miles. Turn around and second stop is 15 miles, third is 15miles, fourth is the LUNCH stop 8 miles away. then 8 more to 5th stop and raft up.

Just wasn't sure if people wanted to run long distance right off the bat or eat first and do shorter runs.

Thanks in advance.

Is this a dry event...If so I dont think the order matters...

If alcohol is involved I would probably vouch for having the longer runs earlier in the day before the heavy drinking begins...

In terms of water conditions I dont know your area but would figure the water would be at its roughest between the hours of 12-4...thats how it is up here anyways (wind, etc)...the conditions are unavoidable no matter what so they dont play a factor here...

distances seem reasonable...i just ran the numbers seems like you have around 85-92 mile poker run...for my boat i would be a little nervous doing all that on one tank...i seem to only get around 130 miles on a single tank, depending on how hard we run it...maybe something to think about.

No one wants to get hyped about a PR and within minutes stop and eat lunch.
If you run longer on first leg , peeps have somethin to yak about during lunch.
Try and figure out some legs that are longer than 8 miles somehow.
People want to run their boat. 8 miles is too short.

Good luck with it all !!! Organizing these events and listening to 100 different opinions is tedious at best.

Your volunteering is admirable.

Be safe and ENJOY.

+ 1 on this depending on weather. Plan on running longer earlier, while people are fresh, happy, and sober. But, have the backup plan ready if the weather sucks to do shorter runs... but that would be an on the dock, last minute call.

Making the longest leg of the run early helps get the testosterone out of everyone's system. It's not a bad idea to have a short leg first to use as a "check" run, then go with the longest leg next, leading up to lunch.

First stop 46 miles then lunch. A nice long run right away then lunch and whatever stops you want in the afternoon.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

It is a dry event, so no drinking till the raft up.

Rough water will not be a factor. We do not have the traffic like Lake Cumberland or Ozarks.

Our lunch stop is at a certain marina and really cannot move it.

Is 46 miles to the first stop too far? We could shorten it and make it 30 miles to first stop.

I like the idea short run to the first stop, then a long run, then lunch.
