Anyone going to go by and get this boat? She said yesterday she was going to have it hauled to the dump. From the pictures it looks as if the boat is in pretty good shape. That will be a shame. I am 800 miles away with no trailer and no job, but would love to have it for a project for my son and I when ever I'm able. Surely someone is in the area and could get the boat before it is trashed.

cosmic12 11-04-2010 07:04 AM

Is there anyone picking this up?
I live in N.Y. but am working in Houston TX for the next 2.5 weeks and can't get home in time or I would be there today.
Please don't let it get trashed, if someone can move it somewhere for 3 weeks or so I will get it ASAP.
save this for someone........somewhere.....

VetteLT193 11-04-2010 07:40 AM

If it were any closer I'd be all over it. Someone has to get this little guy. I have wanted a Cig 20 since I was a kid, and want to fix one up with my kids.

SS930 11-04-2010 08:24 AM

I have no interest in the boat, but I'd hate to see it taken to the dump and destroyed.

Someone grab this thing and bring it back to life!

Sick Stinger 11-04-2010 09:35 AM

Danm it are you guys really going to make me get this
-Mike

BRUCE SEROFF 11-04-2010 09:40 AM

Im only an hour away. If it had a trailer, I'de grab it.

twin screws 11-04-2010 10:33 AM

I want it bad, however I'm 800 miles away.

frickstyle 11-04-2010 10:35 AM

If someone sends in a flat bed, can they load it?

Sick Stinger 11-04-2010 11:06 AM

Do the dollys come with it? Did you ask twin?
-Mike

twin screws 11-04-2010 12:08 PM

Mike I think anything you want would come with it, she just wants it gone. She said her boyfriend paid 3 thousand for the boat, if that is true you would think the boat is in pretty good shape, which if you look at the pics the transome does look good, I didn't see much if any rot.

quicklt1 11-04-2010 12:12 PM

cant you just slap an outboard on it, alot cheaper way to go

twin screws 11-04-2010 12:17 PM

I would eventually put the boat back together if I had the money to get it. I can't believe no one is close enough to get the boat. i have a drive and 454 merc I could drop in it.

WOTW2E 11-04-2010 12:22 PM

I have everything set up on my end to go get the boat. I won't let it go to the dump on my watch!! Just waiting on a call back from the owner to confirm everything up. Keep you all posted.

Good talking with you Mike. Thanks for saving this 20.

twin screws 11-04-2010 12:50 PM

Good luck, WOTW2E keep us posted.

WOTW2E 11-04-2010 01:49 PM

Just spoke with the owner. Everything is set up. I'm headed to New York!

Air Dog 11-04-2010 01:59 PM

I just spoke to them. Nice people.

Looks like I am next on the list if the first guy "WOTW2E" falls through.

I have been kicking myself ever since I sold my last one.

Thanks for the tip.

Chris

Looks like it, then seano? was asking $4k in the last year or so.

twin screws 11-08-2010 01:40 PM

Anyone know who ended up with this boat?

WOTW2E 11-08-2010 05:07 PM

That would be me. Not sure what the plan is yet. Got it off the trailer and up in the air today. The bottom looks good. Pretty straight, maybe a 1/16" hook about 18" fwd of the transom. The transom needs replaced. Stringer tabbing is all delaminated. Some heavy damage on the nose. I like the idea of the project for sure...

Been searching the threads for pics and ideas and such.

twin screws 11-08-2010 06:38 PM

Good luck, please keep us updated.

I like this idea!!! I know it a 24 but looks AWESOME!!!

Sean 11-24-2010 11:30 AM

That boat was mine for several years. Dave bought it from GL and I bought it from Dave...Like my 28SS, its the new OSO bicycle...

Best of luck with it. Keep us up on the progress.

Getting the structure right, is the most important thing, so don't skimp there. You'd hate to have it all ready to go, with a new paint job & parts, then have it delaminate out there, possibly sinking your project.

Those are the things people don't budget when they start one of these "projects". There's a lot more to it than picking interior colors, gauges & a paint job.

Looks exactlly like the Cig 20 i found in Quebec years ago. Back then the guy in Quebec got it from a yard in NY where the guy had not paid his fees.

Boat was set up for a 3 Drive and is a Cigarette 20.

I got it and sold in within 20 hours to Stecz I think it went to offshoredrilling after or tantrum or something like that. Sure looks like it.

Hang Time 27 01-22-2011 09:51 PM

there was another boat built in the early mid 70's that was an exact copy of the 20 cig - and I mean exact - insert in the bow - everything - except a flat hatch, which I believe the first cig 20's had as well. I have seen a magazine ad for them, but I can't remember the name...I'll have to search my pic files, I think I have a pic of the ad still...point being, is there no doubt it's a cig? just curious....

Do you have pics of this 20?

The boat in question was mine and has a CRT HIN. Oddly, it is engraved in the boat backwards. I am told there was one other like this and this was done on the early boats. Upon inspection of the layup, stringers, etc, it is consistant with a CRT layup...I've had enough of them to tell...but hey...I could be wrong. At the time, i was confortable with the HIN and the proper paperwork.

Here's the only evidence I've ever seen that someone else copied the 20 foot Cigarette.

Glaspar, and they even called it the "Don". Don't know any more about them, other than these two pics.

They used a flat hatch, but then so did the early Cig 20's I think, and they also had the bilge vent on the side of the hull, in the same place the early Cig 20's did. Looks like the windshield is exactly the same 3 piece setup, except clear.

Sean 01-27-2011 03:00 PM

I've seen that first pic before and that is a pretty good copy...only difference is the steering is on the starboard side...on my old boat the steering is on the port side...

Sean 01-27-2011 03:15 PM

btw, i always thought that first pic was odd....and now the second pic...the people on the boat are bundled up like it is the middle of the winter...and yet they are towing a bathing suit-clad skier...

cosmic12 01-27-2011 04:46 PM

Thats interesting that Glaspar built one, never seen one but I did have an old G-3......cool little boat and very collectable these days.
Wish I still had that one, gave it away years ago.

Paging WOTW2E. Any progress or news.

offshoredrillin 01-27-2011 05:18 PM

early 20's would be set up however the buyer wanted them, a few of the originals including mine came with jet drives and were rigged by none other than Bobby Saccenti. helms were placed on either side depending on preference and some of them even came with a hot foot gas pedal. mine was a rescue from man eating vines and bushes out of Northeast Maryland.

too funny, I hadn't noticed that...... looks like same water conditions and same yellow jacked driver in both pics

Hang Time 27 01-27-2011 07:51 PM

You would think Glaspar must have had permission since they called thier boat the Don twenty ??
