RPM does it again! - Wow!!
Steve Tripp of RPM just sent me this video of his latest creation!
114+ mph with just 680 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 565! What an awsome looking boat! Enjoy, Chris http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-KpFFaBoNk |
Nice!!:coolcowboy:

Nice. Looks dialed in. Good gentle break in routine, drive at wot until your eyes water so bad you can't see to drive anymore. They are doing a good job.
|
That boat has run 116mph with that power according to their facebook page. Moving along pretty good IMO.
|
Nice to see some good ol Alabama boys do well in a tough market. Congrats from a neighbor.:drink:

The RPM cats have hardly any air in your eyes at speed. You can hold a normal voice level conversation with the co-pilot at over 100 mph. A lot of the design of the boat, and the angle and height of the winshield, were done in a wind tunnel.
Chris |
Cat was a joke, btw, who the he// thinks you would turn that hard at speed. I talked to one of the RPM guys at the Lake Cumberland Poker Run last year. Good people. Initial impression of the boat is high quality. Performance speaks for itself. Any plans for bigger boats?
|
anyone know the weight of those cats. 115 on that power is amazing.
My Daytona might go that fast with a 5 mile an hour tail wind and a slight down hill lake with 200 plus more HP than they are running. |
They are the fastest best looking and best handling cat in there class. If they build a bigger cat I will be the first one in line to build one.

I think that if the economy can recover...at some point in the future, Steve has plans to build a bigger (twin engine) version.

36' would be even better than a 32'er:coolcowboy: Jeffs RPM is in PowerBoat this month. They did the article at Havasu.
|
These guys are amazing, Impeccable rigging and truly awesome cats !
If I had the money , this would be my boat of choice! I think Ill play the Powerball game tonight ! |
Did they ever build one with an Ilmor 710?

I had the pleasure of going to RPM and riding in this boat.
The rigging is secound to none. The acceleration will sit u back in the seat. There is no wind in your eyes at all. The seats are sitting low enough that the wind did not make my glasses move at all. We could carry on a conversation at any speed. Thanks to RPM for taking the time to show me their latest 26... |
I am a big fan of them, and hope to have them build me one in a few years. Seem to be a pretty good starter cat with a stock 8.2l in it, not to mention the relatively inexpensive price for a custom boat.
This particular boat is a light layup, I believe the first one that they have done. It is all Carbon/kevlar, and has no cabin, saving another 150lbs. I forget what they said the total weight was, but i believe it was in the 3800lb range rigged. |
Great looking boat, Looks like the boat runs well. It also looked like no life vest on. Not to smart.

|
I think that the boat is just so darn stable and easy to drive at 114+ mph...that he forgets how fast he is going.
Chris |
Very nice boat, fantastic speed
Any boats delivered with 496 HO, what kind of speed ?? |

:coolcowboy: When you going to listen big daddy....But seriously guys, this boat at speed, is like driving a 40' cat at 100mph, it doesn't do anything stupid, in fact anyone can drive it, it is not like other small cats, I wouldn't do 1/8 of the stuff I do in mine with "ALL" other manufactures smaller cats. Like LaRiverrat Craig said the boat handles anything you through at her, "if you have the nuts, this boat has the guts":ernaehrung004:

I want one of these with a naturally aspirated 598...750-800 horsepower...120mph+ with a simple..low maintenance motor.
Doesn't get much better than that in my book! Chris |

Well I don't know who builds them on the west coast, but Keith Eickert and Ron Potter build them in Florida.
With a little help from my friends at Eastside Offshore. Chris |
