unlimited 17 four winns

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1996 four winns u 17. The boat is extremely clean. 220 hp 5.0 litre ford sx penta drive. Under 100 hours. Has windshield and through the transom exhaust, sounds great. Trailer is clean with fresh rubber. My problem is, NADA has the rig at 4200 to 4800. Owner wants 7000. What is a fair price in your opinion? Thanks, Rob

honestly, I think his price is a bit high. 5k would probably be the right money on it

Nope, $7k is more than reasonable for one of them. Just saw one sell a couple months back for $9k. It was very clean with low hours.

They are basically Donzi clones, as during this time period Donzi and Four Winns were the same company. Price a mid 90's Donzi 18 classic or Sweet 16 in good condition and see if you can even come close to $7k.

Do a little research before you buy. I don't recall if it was the U17 or U19 was getting some bad press from one of the mags.

I have researched the article that talked bad about the handling and I am not scared. I have driven the boat and I thought it was great. Walked a little at high speeds about 63 or so. Boat really took the rough stuff great.

Now I need another vote for or against the price? Anyone have another opinion? The boat is near perfection, not a scratch. Thanks, Rob

Keep in mind that the trailer is not included in the NADA value and that will add about $500 for that size and year trailer.

Those are nice boats and if in good shape, that indeed is not an unreasonable price, particularly if you have driven it and liked how it handled...

I have a U-19 it does not have the Duo Prop, which was an issue with the handling I guess.

We love the thing, fast and like on rails!

I think thats a very good price. NADA is useless.

Thanks to all responders. I am going to make the best deal I can and go home with a boat. Thanks again, Rob

Does anybody know of a U-17, U-19 or Donzi 18 classic for sale?
