Default Insurance ??????

Insurance??
Just got a letter from State Farm that I had my Wellcraft Nova insured thru notifying me I had 10 days to get new insurance as they don't cover "Performance Racing Boats". Could you guys give me some leads on who is a good company for this type of boat? My 2001 Velocity 280 502/EFI. Thanks Chris

Thumbs up

Hi Chris, One of the guys off this board specializes in performance boat insurance. He is excellent to deal with and knows our boats. His name is Sy Goldberg at www.totaldollarinsurance.com phone number (845)356-7251 Good Luck, Mark B.

I agree with Mark, Sy is the best. I have my Top Gun insured with him and his premium was $800.00 less than the lowest quote out there.

He also had bound my coverage on Good Friday!

He called the broker at his house because the office was closed for the Easter weekend!!!

Sy is THE MAN

Kurt.

LakeBum,

I am not trying to take anything away from Sy and his customers, but I think you may want to research the cancellation a little.

I have my boat through State Farm.( 1996 26' Scarab) I have not been cancelled, nor do I expect to be. I have seen agents pull this with customers in the past. Don't know why? If you have all of your stuff (vehicles, house, etc.) through them I would cancel. I think someone is pulling your leg.

Again, not trying to take anything away from Sy. I have heard nothing but good about him and his company here on the board. I may even give him a call myself someday if I'm in your position.

My $.02

Buck

LakeBum:

E-mail me a good quality photo of your boat, and I'll put it up on the site. The site features five other OSO member's boats.

Thank you!

Jennifer

FYI: The reason why Sy has such a great loss ratio is because he insures the person, not the boat.

State Farm also insures my 27 Fountain.

I think the agent has a lot to do with it personally. but that is just an opinion

I too have my Scarab with State Farm . They told my that they don't insure offshore boats , they even had an old picture of a CC Stinger with twins.
I showed them the title on my boat... it says cabin/pleasure boat.
Not offshore. My insurance is $600 a year.

Nothing against SY but...... he wouldn't insure me.
I've only been a boater since 97.

State Farm wrote a policy on My 21 Apache for 189.00 a year. recieved a letter in the mail cancelling insurance because of one speeding ticket two years ago. Talked to the Underwriter, and he stated that State Farm is not looking for any new Boat polices.
