World explorer killed in Florida mogul’s boat crash Posted on December 01, 2010 A man who climbed Mount Everest was with Florida real estate tycoon Steven Posner Monday when their high-performance boat crashed in Biscayne Bay and killed them both. See Related Articles Well-known Florida real estate mogul dies in boat crash Clive Warwick, 60, is remembered as an adventurer and world explorer with at least two circumnavigations and a Mount Everest climb on his adventure resume, according to the Miami Herald. Born in England, Warwick moved to South Florida in the mid-1980s, traveling abroad extensively. He traveled, his daughter told the Herald, "because he always said that was the best way to know the world - to see it.'' Warwick got to know the Posner family from being a part of the local boating community. Authorities continue to investigate the deadly boating accident. Click here for the full report. The local NBC TV station interviewed a marina owner and racing boat enthusiast who claims it was a mechanical failure, not racing, that led to the boat crash. Click here for the report. |
RIP God speed.

Goldman said Eigelshoven told him his vessel couldn't keep up with the Posners, and he had slowed down to about 75 mph waiting for them to circle back and around.
``That's when he saw the boat coming too close and started turning hard left,'' said Goldman. ``He realized they were coming at him. He turned away from them. That's the last he remembered.'' Efforts to reach Eigelshoven and McLennan Tuesday were unsuccessful. Goldman said he and Eigelshoven visited Stuart Posner in the hospital Tuesday, where he is in intensive care for injuries to his head and upper body. He is able to speak, but has not yet been told about Steven Posner's death, Goldman said. Read more: http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/11/3...#ixzz16ucrKjGJ |

Now I hope I don't get raked over the coals for asking this question; It's OK to learn from these things isn't it? It was suggested that perhaps no "safety gear" was in use. If that was the case would the victims not have sunk, requiring a lengthy effort to retrieve the bodies? Basically I guess I'm asking if an unconscious person floats in salt water without a pfd. I don't think that's the case. And I think that the fact there was no search for bodies would indicate that pfds were in use.

RIP to both and Hope for a speedy and full recovery...prayers go out to the family of everyone involved

I know there are tons of questions that wil never be answered. I know everyone wanted pictures and I just got some. The worst ones are not released. These are just some random shots of damage. From looking at these pictures it's hard to believe how many lives were changed in 1 second!
