History on this cougar cat?

Anyone know the background on this boat? Wrecks, stuffs, etc.? Looks like its an old race boat which makes me nervous a little. Think anyone would trade power for 600sci's or similar? Showed the wife and she likes the layout but would have to have smaller power.
