No. I think that he forgot to factor in the price of the gears and propshafts.

You would be better of financially to buy some used ones and have them gone through.

I send my #6's to Craig Colabella of Colabella Performance in St Cloud, FL. Craig used to work for Lake X and his job was to work on the #6 drives among other things. Matt at TNT in Miami is also a top notch drive man. Craig charges $1,000 to tear down and rebuild a #6. Prop shafts are about $1,800 each. Lower gear sets are close to that as well. If you need upper gears add another 2 grand per drive. All seals, propshaft bearings, split line o-rings, drive oil, etc run about $350 per drive. Assuming you have a twin engine application and you are refreshing both drives, you can often swap the lower gears from one drive to the other as they only wear on one side. That saves about $1,800 a drive. If you need to overhaul the whole drive of all parts, figure $7,000+ per drive. If you need just seals, etc (no gears or propshafts) figure $1,350 per drive.
