I say ACV on an '02 Baja 25 is 10K. The Baja guys are calling me nuts and say I'm off by 10-20k additional (LOL). Anyone have an opinion?

NADA on line..............FOR A 2002 25' Baja Outlaw:

TOTAL PRICE NEW RETAIL $65,156, LOW RETAIL $15,775, AVERAGE RETAIL $18,545

Dealer ACV could easily be $10,000.00 to $12,000.00 for a low hour clean freshwater boat, lower for hours and saltwater.

Bill, explain what ACV means to you. Not asking about the 02 25 Outlaw, just ACV in general.

Its the the real price a dealer is giving on the trade, not necessarily the inflated trade allowance that is on paper.

But Bill the boat has to be worth more than 10K, they owe 38K!

Too many selling prices are dictated by loan payoffs, on all brands not just Baja. Factor in a few negative equity trades along the way and the last boat is usually the one that is WAY upside down......

ACV is what the dealer values the boat/trade at. The paperwork can show 30K, the new boat is 90K but in reality the trade is 10K and the boat is 70K, the extra 20K makes the deal happen because the buyer thinks he/she is getting all the money on their trade and they don't have a real understanding of what the new boat really costs.

It's Actual Cash Value. It's the real number a dealer puts on your trade. It's a number that I can get for that piece of inventory in 24 hrs time. Period

Example

You want to buy a boat thats new. It's list is $100,000. Invoice (cost) is 25% off that or $75,000. Dealer wants to make 15% on the new boat (really 17% is avg goal). Therefore he wants $86,206 for the new boat.

Your trade ACV is 10,000. You want 15,000. Your ACV NEVER changes, only the gross on the new boat (if you're a dealer who wants to stay in business LOL). He'll SHOW you 15,000 on your boat and either add the 5K negative equity you have to the purchase price or let the new boat go cheaper. But ACV never changes. It's like a commandment. Written in stone

This has been all over the place. I think the point is what can a non dealer get the boat for?
Not the price a dealer will give you on trade in, just what a person could sell it go another person that is NOT looking to flip it.
