Tough deal for sure.

No matter what your opinion of Mr. Fountain or his business practices, you must agree he is a very competitive individual.

To be caught in a battle over the business he founded and built has got to be his toughest fight yet. Hopefully an agreement favorable for all (including the entire powerboat industry and its enthusiasts) can be reached.

I'd say his comments are fairly transparent...I don't think he's too happy with someone else running his company.

While I agree it's a tough call whether to sign a non-compete, he already "lost" the battle when he sold the company. Now he's just an employee and the parent company, recognizing his potential to re-start elsewhere (re: Don Aronow), is trying to protect itself.

I haven't been a fan of his/their marketing tactics but can't argue the success of the brand and it's influence on the sport. Loosing the brand is simply not an option.
