New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club announces their 2011 Schedule
New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club announces their 2011 Schedule Presented By: ILMOR
Toms River, NJ, December 15, 2010 - The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) Planning Committee met last month to review the 2010 Season as well as develop the upcoming 2011 Season schedule as the club enters it's 14th year! The NJPPC Planning Committee headed by club President Dave Patnaude, meets regularly throughout the year and makes all major decisions that impacts the club. The Planning Committee plays a huge roll in schedule planning, event rule changes, new event ideas and most importantly how to execute all of the club's events. The Planning Committee is also well balanced in regard to the Committee members and the types of boats that they own. This ensures that all members of NJPPC are fairly represented when event planning takes place.
NJPPC is also proud to announce that ILMOR as the 2011 Season Title Sponsor. "Ilmor is thrilled to be NJ Performance Powerboat Club's title sponsor in 2011." Jessica Gamarra, ILMOR's Director of Sales and Marketing stated. She added " NJPPC's schedule and reputation for first class events will enable Ilmor to share information about our line-up of performance engines and drives with their members. NJPPC's events have already proven to us that they are a great way to share the excitement of performance boating with boat enthusiasts in the region." NJPPC is equally excited to have such a fine company as its Title Sponsor!
The following is the 2011 NJPPC Season Schedule, Presented by Ilmor:
Saturday February 5th 2011 - Atlantic City Boat Show Winter Party
Our 12th YEAR for this annual event allows members old and new to get together for the first time since the end of the boating season the previous year. It is a casual evening with elegant dining where we celebrate friendships and honor a few special members from last year's season.
Sunday May 29th 2011 - Memorial Day Weekend Social
This annual event has proven to be a fun and relaxing one. It is also the first event of the boating season! No pre-planning and no advance registration is needed. Members come together at the Captain's Inn in Forked River NJ for an afternoon of good food, good times and some "busting chops" since it is the first time we get together as a group for the new boating season!
Friday June 24th 2011 - Atlantic City Overnight Poker Run
This annual event has been the epicenter of the NJPPC schedule since it's inception back in 1998. Three years ago, we moved this event to a Friday instead of Saturday. The result? A 95% approval rating from the attendees!! Half of the participants went home on Saturday. The other half spent the weekend at Trump Marina and had a "Lunch Fun Run" to Lamberti's in Margate. This year we will repeat 2010's event. We will also have Tim Sharkey hanging out of a helicopter once again to cover all of the action with his ZOOM lens! NEW FOR THIS YEAR - The OPA (Offshore Powerboat Association) is planning to host this year's Atlantic City offshore race on Sunday June 26th! If this happens, this event could turn into "Key West North!" Poker Run on Friday, Casino & Deck Parties on Saturday and Offshore Racing on Sunday. STAY TUNED!!!
Saturday July 16th 2011 - Shore Dreams For Kids
This event originally started by the Day on the Bay Foundation in the 1970's. This event has become an event that has not only touched the lives of the 1,000's of children who have attended, hundreds of volunteers. This year we will be inviting Special Olympians as well as mentally and physically challenged children, special needs children, and their families.This event offers a day of entertainment which includes a "carnival atmosphere" complete with games and small rides, an antique & classic car display, food and drinks, live entertainment and performance powerboat rides on Barnegat Bay at the Jersey Shore. The boat rides are conducted by local performance powerboat owners who volunteer their time and boats to share with those less fortunate. This is definitely a DO NOT MISS event!
Saturday August 6th 2011 - Roar At The Shore Poker Run
This event offers the best BANG FOR THE BUCK! The $199 entry fee + the beach party has become a home run for the club and its members for the last several years. This year - it will once again be a $199 entry fee event and we will go back to Jenkinson's for the night time beach party!
Thursday August 18th 2011 - NJPPC Chesapeake Bay Rendezvous'
This event was first tried in 2008. We had 10 boats and we spent 3 days exploring all the Chesapeake had to offer. The result = all participants said that "IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST BOATING WEEKENDS THEY HAVE EVER HAD!" We also have a self imposed 65mph speed limit which allows everyone to bring their families and friends for an enjoyable weekend. This event is now entering it's 4th year and has turned into a 4 night / 5 day weekend get away! Stay tuned for more details on this event as we move into the 2011 season!!! (this event will be limited to 15 boats)
Saturday September 10th 2011 - 32' and Under Black Jack Poker Run
This will be the 2nd year for this event that we experimented with in 2010. Based on the feedback of the participants, we are hosting the event again in 2011. Hosting the event the weekend after Labor Day allows us to enjoy less boat traffic on the bay and for those people traveling in, the hotels are much more reasonable.
Saturday September 17th 2011 - End of the Season Atlantic City Fun Run
The weather at the Jersey Shore in September is usually pretty spectacular. The waterways are quiet and the weather is perfect! Last year, we tried this event for the 1st time on a Sunday and we wound up with 30 boats! This year, we are moving it to a Saturday in case some would like to spend the night at Trump Marina one last time before the boats go away for the season.
We are very excited about the 2011 schedule and we look forward to having another SAFE & FUN season where boating and friendships flourish!
