I was doing stero upgrades and decided to remove the rear "bench" part of the bench seat for easier access under the seat. I layed the seat up on the sun deck and finished the amp/speaker install. When i went to grab the seat it's hinge got caught on the top "back" of the seat. It put a rip in it about an inch long

Question is: has anyone (successfully) had a rip like this repaired ?? or do i have to have the whole section re-done ??

I'm afraid if i just have that section done it won't exactly match the rest of the upholstry directly around it.

Try pulloing the vinyl loose and going on the backside of the ripped vinyl pece and fixing with a piece of sticky with a piece of white vinyl in the center of the tape. You may even try epoxying the tape and piece of vinyl to the back of the ripped vinyl. Good luck!

If it's white you can probably try one of vinyl repair kits sold at auot parts stores. It's pretty much the same thing they use at shops to repair small tears. Results can vary from bad to OK. Matching a color can be a real PITA though.

Go to a local used car dealer & find out who they use, I have seen some very good repairs....then again I have seen some that........ Good luck....That sucks!!!!!!!1

It can be fixed to the point that you will NEVER know no matter what the color is if you can find the guy in your area that does the repairs. Call auto dealers both new and used and they should be able to help you out. We have a guy in this area that has done 4 burn repairs ina customers seat on her Porche After he is done there is NO WAY to see the repair and 3 years later the first one looks good as new
