Or the saudi"s are going to take less for their oil since the dollar is weaker by the day. Oh yeah, the maneuvers by the EPA with respect to Carbon emissions probably aren't going to help either.

"Hope and Change" I sure "hope" when this redistribution thing is over I still have some "Change" left in my Pocket.. LOL

Nightlife1970 12-27-2010 08:38 PM

This country cant take gas prices that high. If it goes that high we will be in a depression again. To many people hangin on by a string.

SS930 12-27-2010 08:40 PM

Time to start looking into hybrid or solar boats... sorry, I cant do blow boats! :D

And we thought the boat market was already soft, imagine what this will/would do to the HP boat market in this economy?!?!?

Plowtownmissile 12-27-2010 10:09 PM

When gas did this a few years ago, I went out and got a new toyota yaris to add to the stable. All my friends laughed about it til they saw it gets 40-45mpg and only cost $11,800 out the door :D If gas goes up again, just buy a car that gets good enough mileage that you spend the same amount on gas each week. As for boats, gotta pay to play :(

OUTLAW11 12-27-2010 10:17 PM

Audiofn 12-27-2010 11:07 PM

It was a X guy from Shell that said all this. He has his own selfish motives for setting off panic like he is trying. He is invested in a company that is exporing alternative fuels..... If in fact it turns out that he is correct that as people above have said we are going to slide even deeper into a reccesion

cigboat1 12-27-2010 11:59 PM

SS930 has it pretty much on the money: The HP market boat is going to collapse ! ,then the marinas, gas docks, mechanic business. All of the rest of the boat companies will go under and from there on it will be like a bunch of dominos hitting the table...... Could have a total collapse of the economy !!!
Just because some greedy M.F. on Wall street wants to turn a fast buck...

Going to collapse??? Ask anyone trying to sell a boat or finance a boat these days. Stuff's adjusting.

I'm not a big "sky is falling" guy... We've seen $4.50 a gallon before, part of the ups and down.

Use change to your advantage and adjust your business plan.

LMAO, Pretty sure that we will be without Electricity if I am eating that stuff so the well pump won't work and flushing will no longer be in the cards (although I guess I could use the 5 gallon bucket approach for a water source).

My New Years resolution is to spend less time looking at the debt clock and to do less reading up on George Soros so maybe I will become more bullish as a result and I can use all of that crap to feed the fish in our pond.

Jim

The collapse started in August of '07. The HP market has been decimated and is nearly 80% gone worldwide. The only place it can go is UP. There are small pockets of opportunity but it's def going to be a long ride.

If only, I paid $8.50 a gallon yesterday, and it's going up in price again next week!!!!

you don't realise how fortunate you are!

Really???????????

I agree it will go up in time, but it will take the recovery of the economy to do it. If the economy is not recovering AND fuel prices rise significantly, the HP market will fall further. If you dont believe that then you need to change your name and sale pitch to CrackPipeBill.

I think your further ahead than me LOL (my wife would love to have a mut to cruise the islands during the winter).

In all seriousness I think the trickle down of our "Just in time" distribution system in this country and the resulting transport costs will be far more painful to household budgets than putting a couple hundred gallons of fuel in a toy 10-15 times a season. I try to stay positive but prepare for the pain.

I do wish all of my oso brothers a very prosperous 2011!!

Brad Zastrow 12-28-2010 11:04 AM

I read the same article also. What he said was by the end of the decade the price might go to $5. Supply is still high and demand is still low with the economy still slightly improving. Cheap gas is behind us for sure. Anyone still wanting to commute in a big SUV will be paying alot of coin.

How much of the 8.50 is taxes?

BLee 12-28-2010 11:21 AM

Gas prices go up EVER Summer.......every one of them. It's the peak portion of the year, always has been, always will be, so the price of gas will always go up during the Summer. Someone always starts a thread about it like it's breaking news, lol.

drpete3 12-28-2010 11:35 AM

With gas hitting 3.19 everywhere around me yesterday, I am hoping it will get me a better price on a boat this winter. I think I can hande a 20pct increase in my fuel bill this summer. No big deal

ActiveFun 12-28-2010 11:39 AM

Its Effin BS. Its going to force me to not be able to do what I love to do.

I will still boat as much just may not do as many long runs. Luckily where we boat all the fun stuff is just a few miles.

1MOSES1 12-28-2010 12:33 PM

idk who your source is but gas prices will not hit the aforementioned $4.50...it would simply put us into a depression like previously stated...people are barely holding on right now. as prices rise the demand will reduce thus prices will steady around 3.50 to 3.75. the government simply cannot put the american people in a situation like this...tax cuts on gas might even be a solution.

I somewhat agree with this statement as consumer confidense is strongly related to fuel prices. On the other hand all the experts are saying that oil will stay between 60 and $100 a barrel over then next 5 years

paul buckner 12-28-2010 01:37 PM

how much is taxxxxx

Gas cost approx £1-24pence a liter approx 58 pence of that is tax plus another 20 pence vat which is just another tax which goes on just about everything YOU GOT ME GOING NOW $1 .55 = £1 approx

What do they get for so-called "free" that we don't by paying that higher price.
