You're right and that's why he had me remove it. The filter was restricting oil flow so much that the pump couldn't even prime. Anyway, it's what the man said and like I stated they have made some changes.

Also, I was told I should see between 15 and 20 psi and that's what I get now. I've heard of people on this board seeing more than that.

I installed a EARL'S in-line filter between the oil pan and the preluber pump. I can't remember the micron of the screen, but it did not restrict the oil flow. I also installed a ball valve to cut off the flow of oil from the oil filter bracket to prevent back- flow just in case the check valve that comes with the preluber gets stuck open.

I have the KE prelube system and I show between 10-15psi. However I have to let the prelube run for about 1 min. before it stars to build pressure.

I do agree oil changing works great.

I have KE's with the Weldon pumps and have 35 psi. Takes about 1 minute to pump out 12 qts.for a change.

My preLuber is exactly like the KE model, but I bought it directly form the distributor. Here's their link:
http://www.preluber.com
I used the standard automotive version because my boat rarely sees any salt. It's been holding up just fine. FYI- the "electronic module" is a POS and I didn't use it; just hook a toggle switch to the hot wire of the pump. I get about 20# pressure on the gauge in 10 seconds or so. I used the "oil filter adapter" option to make the plumbing easier. Pretty easy install and definately worth it if you have a newer motor.

What pump is Preluber using? KE was using the Weldon which is very expensive, not sure if he has changed. KE also supplied the anodized fittings, quick disconects and one way valves. From what I can see, the Preluber does not use a Weldon, which can probably cut the cost substantially.
