Actually I got on OSO in October 2000 but lost my password and had some old hotmail address so I had to rejoin Jan 2001. I was on the newgroups rec.boat.power.racing before than...if anyone was on those newgroups you really needed some thick skin...we had a blast back then...Llama Racin' and all!

Phillip turned me on to this site in mid 2001 and I will never forgive him....neither will a number of other people I presume.

1 Year

Found out about this site after I bought my FASTech. However it has been one steep learning curve in my 1st year. Hope to have as many informative years as others have on this great site. Congrats to all that have 10+ years.

Yep,
joined in Nov 2000, and have meet some great people here and have enjoyed the banter also.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkk!

I agree with that. October 9, 2000 is my join date.

When I joined I was a sales representative, I was married, had some money, life was good. Now I am divorced, and an attorney. Life changes. My screen name changed three times too (former handles were Old School which I gave that name to Craig since that was the name of his boat, then Hairy Canary -my father sold his boat called the Hairy Canary, then Smarty aka Stephen "Smarty" Jones)

My life has changed but one thing remains consistent, I am on this board constantly (sometimes just not logged in).

OSO is a major part of my computer internet time.

1284 posts in 11 plus years, I guess I don't say too much.

That is true. Your post just made me laugh.

I have to remember to play by the rules.

glassdave 01-19-2012 09:04 AM

man . . . i certainly hope they never put an hour meter on my profile on here. :D

pullmytrigger 01-19-2012 11:52 AM

I lurked for months before I actually joined so unknown to me the site had probably just started. I didnt think it was my place to join as it seemed an exclusive West Coast Socal site where you needed a real badazz boat to join....it seemed 90% of the people had Cigs with twin blower motors..Jefffrey, Nort, Dman, River Girl, Blonde Cig Chick....they were def the core of the site.....I remember I spoke to Audiofn in chat one night (who was also a core member but east coast) and I could not believe he wasnt an old friend of any of the core members.....he had met everyone on the site. wow, that was an eye opener!

I remember I finally had the nerve to join when I saw a guy in the Formula forum that had a twin sbc boat, cant remember his name but he ordered that twin sbc 28 AT that he sold to Spillman....we talked back and forth, nice guy.....its his fault.

Who was that guy from Florida with the "Bayliner Cobra" he was funny as hell.....did anybody ever meet that guy? was the Bayliner thing just a joke and he had some killer boat???

I would imagine that would be me, and I still pass through OSO often, although admittedly reading more than posting. Nice to see you are still here too.

Although I didn't order my 28 AT new, I did buy it used directly from Pat, and I believe Spillman's was one of the other few made. To the best of my knowledge, that boat went to CA via the fellow I sold it to from Ocala, FL, only to be sold once again, whereabouts unknown.

I remember the old OSO quite well, and met many members back in the day. There was a large group from western MI, nearly as large as those from CA. Those were fun times.

Congrats to you long timers. :coolcowboy:
I know in my brief year and a half I've learned a whole bunch and laughed a whole bunch too.
You guys and girls are the greatest!!!

See ya,
Kelly

BillR 01-19-2012 06:26 PM

This site rocks! Joined when I had a PQ 28, and have been thru a few boats. The friendships I have made with many on here are priceless.

That would be a very, very bad thing! :lolhit:

So where's Jeffrey been? :party-smiley-004:

You guys have a few years on me (in this contest anyway), but thinking back over all the funny sh!t, con artist/scum bags (cough Too Old, cough Troutly, etc), and all the Apache BS over the years, I can certainly say OSO has been countless hours (thank goodness Dave!) of nothing but good times!!!

Mr Gadgets 01-20-2012 12:10 AM

Jafo, BillR, Glassdave,
Good to see you guys are still around. Met a lot of nice people on OSO!! From all over the world, pretty cool! TY OSO!
Bill, they just auctioned off the PQ plant contents. I remember taking some pics of your 340 for you.. Those were the days!
Many more years to everyone!!

C_Spray 01-20-2012 10:12 AM

October 2000 was a "re-boot" date for the site. Anyone with that join date could have signed up for earlier versions of the board. I'm pretty sure that I signed up some time in late 1997/early 1998. A lot of good, bad, ugly and wacky has gone on since then....

Tom A. 01-20-2012 12:46 PM

Just into my 10th year..... Misunderstanding/timeout not withstanding.

Maybe???????....

Jim! hey.....didnt know you still stopped by, like I said its your fault lol.....yep still have the same boat but its a heck of a lot prettier now than in the early days of OSO....wouldnt mind moving up but Id have to sell mine first, there lies the problem.....so you still have the Formula cruiser??

Steve 1 01-20-2012 09:21 PM

Nort, it has been a very interesting decade in here!!!!!!!!

Still have the Formula SC for cruising and camping on the Mississippi River, but the recent purchase of a farm in southern WI has slowed down boating plans for a little while.

We still have our heart and soul in offshore performance boats, and I fully expect there will be one sitting in the new 40x70 toy shop I just built in the near future. Another AT certainly would be a possibility, but Pat says no twin SBC's in his new 29....

Dang Nort, you've been here over a decade and made 11,000 + posts and I have yet to see you offend or piss anybody off. :evilb:

Looks like I just became a member of the Decade Club myself. Apparently time flies even when you are wasting it :)

Hey Trav!!!!

What a decade it has been!! I sure miss the "good ole days" when we used to have fun. It seemed that there were alot less people on here back then that didn't own boats and were internet experts!!:drink::evilb::drink::evilb:

I'm not sure when I actually started coming on, but had to re-sign back up under the name of Craig223 and then my current name.

Biggus 01-22-2012 08:29 AM

Who remembers that Mikey guy from LOTO that claimed to have a triple 900SC 42 Fountain. He was always kicking everyones azz!:lolhit::coolcowboy: Old board, late 90's.

Biggus- Hope all is well with you and family!

I remember a Mikey from the Fox Chain of Lakes (outside Chicago area) that prowled the board in the early days and called everyone out. If Klaw is still around, I'm sure he remembers him.
Mikey...... he had the fastest boat....... in the whole world.
