Actually have done the near exact thing before. A customer forgot his boat in and asked us to get it out. Coves had about 3" but main lake was open water. You could drive up on the ice, then it would break, over and over again. Got out of his cove, across the main lake and almost to the marina before we ran out of gas. Was about 50 ft from shore, so with a couple of careful steps, I walked/crawled to shore. Grabbed an inner tube and gas can, refueled and headed to the hoist. There was zero damage to the boat. Was approx late 80's early 90's 16ft with 50 or so horse Evinrude. I would do it again in a minute.

I think I heard one of then say "hey ya'll, watch this....."

That's some dedication right there... In the beginning I didn't take that thing for being an ice breaker. Those guys are nuts, and I'm sure his neighbors love him... At least they're having fun!

I was thinking the same thing. Now if it ever got that cold down here, the neighbors would have been standing around drinking beer and cheering him on. Fortunately, it doesn't - I had to put on a coat just to watch that.:drink:
