Batteries
 

Ok anyone have any suggetions on batteries for the boat i think i'll be replacing them soon. they don't seem to be staying charged up after they sit for a few weeks.

I would go with an Optima or a Stinger, I used Optimas because I am cheap !!! It made a big difference using the stereo in my boat.

Later, make sure you don't have a draw on the batteries while the boat sits, batteries should last more then that!:rolleyes:

Battery drain??
 

I had the same problem with the batteries last year. I have a pergo(?)switch and my battries would not hold a charge even if I turned the switch to off.:confused: Does that mean I could have a bad switch or bad battries?

I run Die Hard deep cycle marine batts, seem to work pretty well.

I run Optima's. Their expensive, but last!!

Does the batt switch allow one or the other to be active and a setting for both (3 position)?
Or does it only have an off and on (2 position)?
I have dual batteries and a three position switch.
If the switch is a two position and one of the batteries has an internal short it'll drain both batteries because they're always connected together and only disconnected from the circiuts.
If your bilge pump is like mine it's powered seperate from the battery switch, works even though the batt switch is off, maybe a bad float switch or something else.
Radio memory circuit?
It's not going to be easy tracing down the power drain.

It has the off batt1,batt2,both settings. I'm wondering if
1)if one of the batteries are actually connected to the output on the switch

2)if the swich is not actually switching completly off.

I do think it is time for new batteries and hopefully when the motor goes back in the shop finds a short if it is there.

The bilge pump does not work on auto. setting only when it is turned on manually so maybe the float is bad and draining the batteries??
