Anyone with experience with mooring whips

Does any one have any experience with mooring whips. I am thanking about installing mooring whips on my dock for visitors. I am in rough water, and not sure what size i would need. Do you look at boat weight and factor in rough water and up the size (weight wise), would the heavier weight whips work on lighter boats? Any help would be appreciated.

Hell Ya used to have some on his dock in BWJ's cove and they worked pretty well.

Cool, maybe I can finally stop by on a sat.

I have three sets on out dock. I bet I have saved thousands in gel coat repairs over the years because of them.

Well worth the coin they cost. I figured out which ones I needed and then bought the next size up just to be sure.

I went with the two piece units with the big threaded joiners in them. Easier to store two 6 foot sections than one 12 footer.

When I bought my house in FL it had a pair of SS whips mounted on the dock. They appear to be stronger than the glass Mooring Whips.
Might think about that if the water is rough. I think they're great.

Mine are 25 years old and still work great

I wanted them but our dock gets lots of boat traffic (up to 40 ft cruisers) and the boat would be docked taking the waves broadside......anyone know if they work on a busy channel?

our dock faces end on to the main channel of the Trent Severn waterway. 40 foot cruisers all day long.

Do your boats take the ways bow-stern or port-starboard (broadside)? I was always concerned waves hitting 38 ft of hull would push the hull up against and smack into the dock.

On top of that....we get a pretty strong tide that hits the boats broadside too.

X2, worked great. I don't know anything about them, though.
