Assistance needed.....
I need some help here, got my rebuilt 1996 454 Mag MPI Procharged motor on the dyno and trying to figure out how to set the base timing without a scan tool.....does anybody know what colour wire to ground out to set the ECM into base timing mode? We have found info on how to set the base timing for the IV and V motors with the Thunderbolt ignition but nothing on the VI motor with 3 series ECM....
We have the engine up and running but it will not idle until we set the base timing...thanks for any help. Jeremy |
Use a paperclip and jump out the A and B terminals in the data plug. This will put it in base timing mode. The data plug should be right near the ecm. It is a 10 pin rectangle shaped plug with a cap on it.

Eddie This is the problem when there is only 1 dyno within a few hundred miles and all they do is N/A stock car motors................... I really do appreciate the info, all the best. Jeremy |
My pleasure. Good luck, and let me know if you need anything else.
