Is it a V bottom? The largest V I know of from Magic/Sleek is the Sleekcraft 34' Heritage which as northern said is an Aronow hull.

The largest cat they built was a 44. Next smallest cat is the 34.

There was a 39 that used to come in to my cove at LOTO all the time several years ago. I have seen it out rarely in the past few years but believe I saw it for sale somewhere in the past year, can't remember where. I'll ask my friend if he knows its whereabouts.

DaBank 01-25-2011 11:01 AM

I have only seen one out here in Havasu named HEAT WAVE, does anyone know who owns it?

E Colby 01-25-2011 11:44 AM

In my first year as Editor of Powerboat, we gave the 39' Voodoo Boat of the year so the full test would have been published in 1994, I think. You should be able to purchase a copy of it from their archives. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure that the molds ended up with Ron Debartolo and were then built in MO as a Challenger.

Are you refering to the "Desert Heat", that raced a while? It was like purple with large letters down the side? Teague maintained that boat while it raced, you might want to call Bob, I'm sure he'd be able to help you out.

In the mid 90's there was also "Rock Hard" (a 34 Magic) and "Rock Harder" (a 39 Magic) that ran around Havasu a LOT.

I'm fairly certain Magic produced a few more. They were pretty popular in the mid to late 90's. There was a really nice used one that was mostly all white for sale not more than a year ago.

DaBank 01-26-2011 06:42 PM

The reason I am asking about the 39 is there is a repo that I may be able to buy (Desert Heat) that needs alot of work just wanted to know if it would be worth dealing with.

Call Bob Teague at Teague Custom Marine, he'd be able to give you the inside scoop I would think.

Tank,
Wasn't there a nice renovated red one at Desert Storm a few years ago? I remember Powerboat taking many pictures of it (Tom Newby R.I.P) and also doing a write up on it and the owner.

Could be wrong but that is what I remember.

I don't recall that but PBM did test the 39 Voodoo w/525SC's in 1994. However, DaBank would have to order it online to see the full article as they're not in print online (waaaaay too much work:drink:).

Here's a pic of Desert Storm in it's current state. Looks like it needs a wash.

Wonder what motors those are? They don't say hours anywhere

Good lines on that boat. Wonder what the interior looks like and what drives are on it. The motors look like Merc 8 or 900's.

The motors look like old Teague 740s. 509 motors, predecessor to the 800 and 800efi. They built quite a few of them back in the day. Call Bob Teague, I bet he knows something about the boat.

What do you want to know?
Designed by Aronow.
Highly desireable even older models.
Eventually taken over by Sleekcraft.
Deck boats, mid-cabin, open-bow configurations.
I have a '29 Wizard with upgraded drivetrain.
Can answer as much as I know, but if you have an opportunity to buy one, short of an Apache or Skater, do it. I love mine, hauls ass, solid excellent construction V that eats up the chop at 50+
