Default Anyone have a Merc 525 single Rig kit Wiring Harness?

I'm having a Merc 525 being rigged in place of a 496 HO and need a Merc 14 pin SC single rig kit (part number 8M8024581) in order to get the analog guages to work.

Merc has them on back order until Feb 7 and I was wondering if any anyone might know where I can get my hands on one sooner. Any rig kit for a Merc 525 2006 and later should work.

Tks,

Robert

Anybody by chance know where I could find one of these rig kits? - Mercury still has them on back order.

Question

I would say try and contact a few of the boat builders and see if they would have one in inventory and whether they will sell you one form their inventory.
Kinda tells you how many HP525efi's Merc is selling lately!

Best Regards,

You sure about that? Check these part #s: 844170K05 & 892486K04. You may also need an AGI box and computer reflash to put out an analog signal. Let us know how it goes. I've had problems.

There was a recall on the wiring harness on the 525's. Mine was recalled and the newer style harness was installed. You may want to check this out, so you don't get one of the earlier recalled harnesses. The engine and alternator harness did not have the proper overcurrent protection. I have a copy of the recall but I can't post the attachment for you to see. I am no longer a paying OSO member, so I can't manage attachments. If you provide e-mail address I will send it to you.

Thanks for the info but it looks like I am just going to have to wait until Merc gets some of the new ones in. Sounds like they have a shipment in but as yet they have not been able to unload them due to the snow.

The engine will run with the 496 harness. You will need an adapter for the main connector, you will need to cross some wires to get trim to work. You will not have gauges but the 525 has built in safe guards. You will know when you bump the rev limiter, it will beep first.
