Pantera 28

Seriously thinking of buying one of two boats I am looking at right now. One is Velocityricks Pantera in the classifieds. Talked to my credit union today and they tell me its valued at 38k. I went on nada and guess its close for what thats worth. Rick is asking 45k and I think its worth every penny of that if the motor and drive are good. I talked to Rick for an hour Friday and believe all is as stated.

I am waiting on some info from Shogrens now. Jo from Pantera said its a good deal. I didnt need to borrow any money but now the wife and I are looking at buying some property in S Florida and will be using some boat cash for a down payment on that as well. So a partial loan will be done until I sell a boat and our current North Wi property.

Long story question is how do I convince the bank that the boat is worth more than 38k? I planned on putting 40k on the SFlorida property and 10 k on the boat.

Im no professional with loans but when I spoke with my credit union they seemed not inerested with a boat loan. Try wachovia bank. They approved me to 70k and my credit is only so so.

I think your best bet is going to be to try to get the Fl property for a discount or a lower down payment. It's going to be hard to get your bank to buck up on a boat. A credit union might be a better way to go.

What were the rates at? I only plan on borrowing until my other boats sell or better yet , my property up north. Might be a week might be a year.

Sheer Insanity 02-01-2011 11:47 PM

What did he tell you the boat topped out at? I saw it on another sire with a top speed of 72? Seems low??

The boat has more in it . It needs more prop. He is hitting the limiter with a detuned motor. Should see 76-78 with proper tune and prop. Thats all I can say on that. Rick can give you all the details . I dont want to speak out of line on anothers boat but it looks like a great buy. But dont slip it out from under me yet.:coolcowboy:

Banks really don't care what its actually worth.
They care about what they can sell it for if they get back.

You could try getting a higher retail value on ABOS or Buck and see if they will take that.

rlj676 02-02-2011 04:21 PM

Get it surveyed. Some banks will take survey value. Also does it come w/ a trailer? That's not included on guides, so it's a 7K trailer.....

Also check w/ CU's as others have mentioned. Typically better rates/terms and more flexible on boats.

Ah Ha, very good point. Yes a good trailer. Forgot about that, thanks.

That and a survey should get you everything you need, good luck:drink:

Make sure you step through every option/choice that might be on the boat and trailer with your bank. I did that with my credit union--we read through their whole list to make sure--and it made a considerable difference in the loan value.

In The Pink 02-02-2011 08:53 PM

I know that Pantera. It's a nice clean boat with good power and very well taken care of.

VelocityRick 02-02-2011 09:28 PM

The motor makes 651hp with dry headers @ 35degs advance. We detuned the motor to 32 degs, smaller jetting, and added gill exhaust. It's not making anywhere near that sitting on the boat and it still redlines my 26p labbed bravo. Every hull is different and even with the same Hp some boats wont run the same speed. However, I see no reason why it won't run 76-78 with proper setup.

I wouldn't bother calling than, lol. But then again, you haven't called the last couple days anyways. We're expecting 92-93mph with 650hp-- for what it's worth.

Yeah, the two foot snow fall had me out all day clearing drives. I had my two tractors and walk behind working solid. Took me 6 hours to dig out my driveway and 4 vehicles , then helping neighbors and over to my moms. Winter sucks , I want to move south to boating weather year round. I have a 3 wide 3 deep driveway with a 6'drift all the way across. 4 cars covered like the last one in the pic. The only thing I could see at 6am was my truck cap. I was dead tired and on the couch at 6pm. No talking for me . The one is a pic of lake Michigan, look real hard you can see a jet skier lol.

Beautiful Pantera right there, we've run with it many a time. $45k with a nice trailer seems like a steal.

Man for that money I'd be buying a 30 y2k superboat. 4 feet bigger with the swim platform, 2 feet bigger as far as running surface, for the same speed, you can put in a 496HO and run WOT all day with a warranty, also a shorter beam it'll kill the 28 pantera in the rough

For that money why wouldnt you buy a 29 Kryptonite? Doubt you'll find a Y2Kfor 45K. Except Superbabi's without power if its still available.:party-smiley-004:

Well, that is interesting? Which one is it? I have been talking with Greg about taking mine on trade. I am sure to take a beating because its not offshore style . But they take anything. Its an 09 .
He just got in a 280zr but not really to my liking. I was going to stop in today and look at it just for kicks as he is 20 minutes from me.
