McLeod Bolster Seats

Does anyone know anything about the McLeod bolster seat actuator shocks? Mine is the push button and the seat will not stay in the locked position. I was told by Stephanie Mcleod it was the acuator shock under the seat. Well now they are impossible to get ahold of... Anyone know where I can find one of these?

brian41 02-08-2011 06:52 AM

I was told that McLeod was bought out and now makes aprons for Home Depot.

 Did he ever sell the old Baja vinyl inventory that he had?

I will PM his cell phone number to you, but you could look in the aircraft industry for that unit. Mike told me it is the same unit that you would find in Jet Airliner seat.

Thanks for the replies and PM's!!! I will be looking into getting my seat fixed this year... Tired of holding it in the down position while underway!

TCBoss302 02-09-2011 07:47 AM

Anyone have suggestions on where to buy a couple of nice aftermarket bolsters?

I have a set of used Mcleod electric bolsters from a Baja for sale and can recover any color you need.

FuelinAround 02-09-2011 08:25 AM

How much?

sunsation96 02-09-2011 08:49 AM

How come Sunsation can get ahold of them but no one else can? They do make a hell of a product! Best looking on the market IMO!

maybe next time your by Sunsation why dont you see if mike is in the back and ask him why he doesnt return his calls.

as far as the best looking seat on the market thats only a matter of an opinion.

Can some one get me the length open and closed on these things. If you can I can probably locate a motorized set up to replace the manual one you currently have.

New Bolster Design

5 Attachment(s)
Here is a sneak peek at a brand new bolster design that we are starting to work on. Maybe we could use your guys input on the new design? This current design is a real space saver compared to many other bolsters.

We can always build the Baja Aero bolsters in any color combo you need because we stock the components, and have many of the Baja vinyl colors.

Just like I said IMO!:lolhit::party-smiley-004::eek:

I have only seen him there once for the open house! Seemed like a nice guy, but many have issues geting ahold of him you would think he would take any work in these times. I know he is busy with the Sunsation work but I would rather have too much work.

Seats look great the bases look dated IMO.The seat has nice lines but the bases just don't do the seat justice. Nice work!

Good point thanks. We just started with a frame that Checkmate had designed, but our seat needs to be better than anything used now.

I would like to start with a common footprint so that replacement frames cover old mounting holes, and cockpit carpets still fit. Maybe the Baja footprint for a double leg frame, and the McLeod footprint for a single leg option? What is in your sunny?

We are not far enough into the project to know labor, and materials for a finished price, but we plan to make them very affordable. I think there are more people referb. their old boats, than there are builders making new ones in this economy?

Mark,

We just finished a set of McLeod II's that I could have used them on. Most people probably won't tackle tearing into one of Mikes seats, but we do all the time. PM sent.

Tore my mcleod bolster seats apart in less than an hour, surprisingly easy. had the handles powdercoated blue & the purple vinyl painted blue by Mitcher T. Will post pics if somebody can let me know how to do it.

Face It 03-04-2011 07:08 AM

What about some bucket seats. Seems like there is a lot of cats with that type. I might change to that. My back can't take the stand up any more.

Quality Time 03-04-2011 09:48 AM

My other had his hydraulic ram on his McCleods rebuilt by a local hydraulics shop for about $30. Another option to consuder if that is the problem. As stated, easy to get at, had one leak shortly after boat purchase.

Dave, Based upon the pics shown and the wiring/switchpak, those seats are abit dated. Newer electric bolsters were built with micro switches that activated relays.

no way there a nice seat but for a full race or rough water seat you want PPI. they even post on here. for sit down or bolster they are the best . the DONZI bolsters prove it.or the joker power boat seats are custom made by them and are awesome. I plan on selling two seets of bolsters and have PPI build me some for my bad knees and back. go to there site rhey also have a shock set up for seats and bolsters and a seat and foot pad to take the stress out of tour knees and back. there the best bt far.

I WILL ,I am going to be testing the boat with the elec bolsters next week. then talk to ppi about adding to one of the pair or sell both pairs. ppi wants $$$$ for a pair like I want a full adjustable bolster. so if I go that route I need to sell these for that money. so I should know in the next few weeks. if I go ppi I need to make sure both sets sell to pay for them thats the tricky part. or I might be able to add on to one of the pairs a inout on the sides on the elec pair. this has been a 2yr build on this 28 saber, so Iwant to be comfortable with my 5 bad disks and knee replacement and shoulders:grinser010: :grinser010::grinser010::grinser010:. I'll keep you posted just got to run the biotch:bigbird:

Looks like your new to OSO. You need to contact Brian direct, or PM him. People don't check there posts that are that old. His bolsters would be in Taylor MI. real close to Detroit.

His email: [email protected]

I know this is a bit off track. But if you have back issues, sitting down in a boat is the last thing you want to do. (unless you have a nice set of suspension seats. I am speaking from experience. I have had Fusion Surgey twice in the last 4 years..... My spin can barely take a ride sitting in the seat of a cruiser. Every time you come down off a wave it will run right up your spine. However I can run for hours in my Velocity 260, while standing. I have learned to keep my knees flexed (not locked). This allows my legs to take the shock, not the spine. Granted even this way I get sore, but a lot less than sitting......

Sorry for the side track...........

I know this is a dated post but I am in the market for some guidance and pics of building bolster seats. its much appreciated in advance thank you.
