I used them for years when I had express cruisers.....great company and coverage IMO. They have lots of programs for members with trailering assist (they will send 2 trucks, one for the truck, one for the trailer), lists of surveyors, lots of marina have 10% discounts on gas/slips, etc.

I had one claim with them 6 months after I bought a used inboard express cruiser. I had the boat surveyed by one of their surveyors when I bought it but in 6 months the shafts had wobbled causing damage to the shaft, mounting hardware under the boat, and even the transmission. When my mechanic found the problem (it was in for a leak) I called BoatUS and they sent another surveyor. They said the first surveyor wouldn't have missed this problem and I must have hit something (which I denied since I didn't know of any impacts). They said that must have been the cause and it's covered......I didn't pay a dime.

Yep.......the surveyor claimed he knew the initial surveyor and that guy would have found the issue. He did say if it didn't happen in the water it must have happened while in transit to me, either way it's covered. (I bought it out of state) I was bummed when I bought my first go-fast and found out they wouldn't cover it

Ten years ago and had them cover a 382 Formula. They were just getting into the semi performance coverage. I had been with them for years prior with other cruisers. Anyway, the day I sold the Formula someone stole the trailer for the Formula (true story). I called Boat US and was going to make a claim (first one ever). They told me I had no trailer coverage. I said what are my options and they replied "we want to help, we will back date a policy for the trailer, just pay the policy for it and we will cover the theft". I was taken back by the help and couldn't have been happier.

Funny you brought this up now , got the same paper work from them and called them two days ago.... Wasted 35 minutes on the phone with them !!! They wanted $1400.00 more than I am paying now and for less coverage......... needless to say I just blew them off as a waste of time. They did not care if you had any safety equip . like sniffer, fire suppression system or anything else and had a larger deductible than I have now!.......

They outsource hi-perf boats so they are high......for runabouts and cruisers they are price competitive and they take better care of their customers than anyone else. I still carry membership even though they don't Insure my stuff anymore. The savings I'm gotten on transient slips an fuel discounts more than pays for annual membership.
