I AM TRYING TO BE NICE TO MY FELLOW RACERS

Fast Shafts 05-20-2002 03:05 PM

This is where APBA needs to step up. Although it is not in the rules, they should have to forfit any points earned this year, and be forced to step up to P2 if they want to continue racing!
This is an example of why P class needs more structure.

You're right, there's no mention of what happens to already accrued points.

"1. Violation of Designated Class Maximum Speed - If a boat exceeds the class top speed during a race it will be disqualified and the boat will be moved into the next higher class for the next race. If the boat owner wants to remain in the class he/she just broke out of proof must be made to the Director of Performance class that the boat has been made to go slower by the following methods.

a. Reduction of horsepower
b. Added permanent weight"

Marathon

The PowerBoatTours.com P3-96 is a true P3 Boat. We have never seen 90 on the GPS Speedo. The boat is a 38 Top Gun TS with 575's - complete with :

Cabin Interior - Electric porcelin head w/ maserator - 1500 watt stereo with 16 speakers - 3 batteries with isolator - swim platform - 3rd drop in bolster and we always run with a navigator. The boat is raced with the carpet in ( 12 pack of Coors Light iced down in the cooler too) We also always race full of fuel.

We even donated the APBA a radar gun in Marathon. I did see the speeds on the APBA website and I would think it was an error. We trust the APBA's decision to do whatever they feel right. Thanks for the opportunity to race with the greatest racers in the world!

Mike,
Thanks for the explanation. I'm glad to hear a few boats were tested after the race. I think the misinformation on APBA's site caused some of us to become a bit critical, Its nice to know that the "system" is working. I suppose we didn't give APBA enough time to rectify the problem before bashing them. I appologize to APBA and Brian Hollis.

Robert:

Your apology is accepted. This thread kinda gave us an idea! We'll be taking our 88 mph Top Gun and be changing to run P2 the next race. We'll keep you posted on the results!

What, after my poor Marathon showing , you are lonley?

ChrisK 07-18-2002 01:34 AM

Hmm I just found this thread, Friend of mine was the person who came in third... That was also the last time he raced.... Was not worth the time and effort(expense) to run if the class was not competitive.
