Every true cat I've ever been in has hopped a little at some point in smooth water. No big deal IMO, just the nature of the beast. I dont know from experence, but I would expect pod boats to hop a little too under the right conditions. Hell, I've been in vee's that have hopped worse than some cats. Like I said, it's no biggie IMO.

Elim I am in the same situation. I have looked and continue to look at Skater but for the type of boating my family and friends do a larger cockpit and a cabin fit my needs. When we go out we may spend 8-10 hrs in the boat anchored at the beach with friends. We need some room in the cockpit. Most times we go out I have six people on the boat and generally when we anchor a couple more join us on the back of the boat sitting on the sun pad. For us a small cabin for a place to possibly change out of wet clothes, use a porta potty, storeage, privacy, get out of the sun or rain if needed. All indications now my next boat will be a used 30 or 33 Eliminator. They may not be the best offshore boats but they fit my needs the best. Currently I have a HTM sr24 and the cockpit and cabin are perfect for our type of boating. I just want a bigger boat with the same aneminities to handle rougher water better.
If Skater built a boat layed out like a west coast boat I and alot of others would be all over it. |

The trick to finding out what they'll build is picking up the phone. Skater is building a 32-B Deckboat for a friend of ours right now.

Peter will build just about anything for you. You'd be surprised how few Skaters are exactly the same to begin with. There are a LOT of custom decks out there. Hell, he even builds custom boats for other manufacturers!

I'll never forget the first time I ran with an Eliminator . It was a small v bottom 25-26 ft. Brand new , acpl weeks old.. We were running south on the deleware rvr in bristol , at about 80 we hit some chop and his whole engine hatch blew off and out of his boat... quite impressive..lol

You think you've seen centerpods. Check out the one on my 1997 27 Daytona. It was really like a Mod VP. It actually worked very well. It obviously leaned the inside on turns and would turn very well. When encountering parallel waves it would list side to side uncomfortably, but I guess no worse than a vee would. It probably was a decent design not for ultra high performance. It did really well in the rough, but it was a resin tub and very heavy. It ran over 100 with 454's with Tyler Crocket 177 top ends. And yes, the hatch blew off, but it was because I left the nut off the hatch bolt.
