Default Buying a boat in Canada?

Anyone buy a boat in Canada and bring it back to the States? What does it entail? Is it difficult to get through customs? Are there any extra taxes involved. Do most states accept a title from another country. Can you wire transfer money to a Canadian bank? Does it take longer for funds to clear? Are there brokers or agents that will take care of the whole prosses?

Thanks

My brother bought a boat approx. 10 years ago in Canada. At that time, it wasn't a problem getting the boat into the US because the boat was mfg. here. However because the trailer was mfg. in Canada there was a hold-up at customs. In the end he had a problem getting the trailer certified for US highway use mostly because one hand didn't know what the other was doing between customs and the Dept of transportation.

It is no big deal. You will have to use a broker to bring it in to the US.

Good to know. Yeah, on the way back we were held up at customs for some time and of course they don't communicate with you at all, you have to pry everything out of them.

Thanks!
