I see some advertise as a true tunnel and some with a sponson what are the advantage and disadvantage of the designs. :D

center sponson good for low speeds inland running.
Allows lowing planing speeds. Better turning and less porpoise
Full tunnel for all out high speed running. :)
Better rough water-offshore water action. Harder to keep under 30 and more bow steer.

Now this is just my observations. I have a center sponson on mine. ihave only drivin one full tunnel. There are sweet but since I am in MN and boat alot of inland lakes n rivers i needed the low end planing :(
Alot more expereince here to be had then from me.
Too Old and many others have had several cats of different manufacture and they can better tell you the characteristics.
Mine is great for me :)

However, if I ever win the power ball it might be a hard choice from a Mares to a Skater :)

Single or twin motors? I/O or outboard? Mine is a twin full tunnel. Sigle I/O's usually have a center sponson of some type. Awesome boats are an exeption to the rule.

Like Mnfastboat - Center sponson boats are normally found on calmer waters - I think!!

Mine is a 30' Cobra that I got during winter. So far I'm able to keep it on plane at 30 MPH with no tabs so slow speed running is no problem. Getting on plane is something I've learned and gotten better with. It's not a problem as much as it is a slow process!

I previously owned a 19' STV tunnel. Not the size of the boats on this board, but still a tunnel. It was a center sponson and the big difference I noticed from my current Cobra is how flat it turned. The Cobra likes to lean out at certain speeds and trim. Believe it or not the STV handled Sunday afternoon chp no problem. I just had to keep it trimmed hign and NOT back off the gas. It was a rush!!!
