Chaparral make a nice boat. Its a good and heavy deep V. Mine had a 5.7 Thunderbolt (Carb). Best speed I saw was 55. I had it for 11 yrs with only 150hrs on her. Actaully I wished I never sold her.

I have a 93 Crownline 225 bowrider and I feel it is quite a rugged boat. Quite a lot of room for people and gear, handles rough water as well as a 22 footer can, and is acceptably fast, but being as big and wide as it is, it can be a bit of a slug out of the hole. I paid 8500 in extremely good shape with 270 hours on it 3 years ago. Came on a double axle galvanized roller trailer also. Took me 6 months to find an acceptable boat in that under 10k price range, most were completely clapped out.

Adam, I assume this is you. Get a Baja 192 islander, merc 5.0, reliable, goes 50mph, good on gas. I had one one Trout Lake, it was fun for what your looking for. Plus they r cheap. But don't forget that they are like fat chicks, fun till your friends see you on one haha!!!
