I actually like the boat, for it's sheer size it has a great sport look on the water, and both the cockpit and salon are huge.
I guess a 12' beam on a 50' boat lends to a very open feeling.
I was shocked at the top speed posted. I'd of never guessed a boat that big and heavy would move that fast with diesels.
I wonder what it's GPH is at that cruising speed.

See ya,

I like it.

Only if you live in Texas where everything is bigger LOL!!!
I don't think the other states allow regular people to tow boats that wide down their roads without a wide load permit.

The back slightly resembles the 80 nortech with the vents on the side. That'd be quite the trailer TR930:lolhit:

The 8v92's I had in construction equipment burned @ WOT about 90-110 gallons each in a 10 hour shift. They were pretty easy on fuel, but they were low HP & LOUD!!!

The 50' Cherokee was designed by Alberto Mercati and built by ProfilMarine Yachts in Orrigio, Italy. In a test report of '82 that model powered by twin 500hp Cummins Turbodiesels had a cruising speed of 30knots (top 35) and a range of 300 nm. I think this was by far the most popular model of that company. The later models (60' and 80') did not sell as well.

Looks nice. A little too good to be true. Call me a skeptic but it does say "fresh water boat" but I didn't know they had palm trees in Ohio.

Yeah, I noticed that. The boat is now in Toledo, and I think they mean it's a freshwater boat NOW. After some google research it seems as they left a 1 off the price... I still think it's a cool unit for some reason. There is a 60' for sale in Europe with 16V Detroits :evilb:

Thanks olli :drink: I knew somebody had to have the scoop on these things.

I have a 1986 45' Profil with twin GM 6V-92's that we did a partial restoration on and I LOVE the boat! I will try and figure out how to post some photos of her, but she is listed on our website at www.totalmarine.com. I'm asking a lot of money for her because she isn't seriously for sale!

My uncle had a Cherokee 50' 1987 that we refit back in 1993. The detroits are very efficient and at 750HP with the upgrades water cooled turbo's, large injectors and exhaust topped out at 51mph. We detuned her more for cruise (smaller injectors, supercharger slower) and she would cruise at 40-42 mph and top put around 48mph.

Handles the rough water very well, can day cruise with 8-10 people with no problem. Ours slept 5 people in comfort. Two baths small galley.

The boat you guys are looking at was re-fit in Fort Lauderdale some years back. I did look at it dry docked in 2007 and was very impressed with the detail. Would be a very unique sport cruiser for someone looking to be differant. Build like a tank.

I have owned an 83 Cherokee 50 for the past 2 years . I had it surveyed before I had it brought up to Canada and again last year for insurance. Both surveyors commented on the exceptional build quality. They are relatively heavy due to the solid construction, but ride like a dream in the 3 to 5 foot chop we often get here on Lake Ont. Mine cruises at 22 knots and has hit 32 at WOT with her Cummins VTA903 450 hp V8's. Fuel burn @ 2100 rpm is roughly 30gph. We love the boat and plan on keeping her for many years. The boat advertised appears to be an amazing deal for someone who is looking for a diesel cruiser with sport boat styling.
