i have these monsters. and i have had them mounted on bell- housing but makes it so tight back there. i wanted to mount them under the motor somewhere or on a stringer but don't want the bilge to look cluttered. looking for suggestions.

I have a similar cooler from Mr.Kool. I mounted mine on the stringer with the brackets. They have been holding up fine.
I mounted the brackets/cooler when the motor was out though.

mine are out rite now too... getting ready to put them in so wanted to figure out where i should put them... i want the bilge to look as clean as possible.

is your set up a bravo boat , if so i took a peice of 3/4 inch box tubing and ran it from the little foot on the bottom of the bellhousing forward . I made a drop down leg off the block where stock motor mounts go out of a peice of flat stock , it held the box tubing at the front . Then i mounted the cooler to the box tubing with 2 wrap around hangers. it has worked great for 6 years with no problems . This way you can't see it and if you pull the motor it stays with it and all the plumbing.

I trimmed a little out of my motor mountswelded a half of a piece of stainless tubing ( cut lengthways) and welded it to the inside of the mount with braces. These were 3x18 and essentially were right behind the alternator along the side of the block.
to secure them i used stainless hose clamps with a piece of rubber between them and the tubing.

As Mike said above this way when you pull the engine everything is self contained, and very secure.

STRAIGHTPRIORITY 03-04-2011 12:23 PM

sounds good i appreciate the help.

delsol 03-04-2011 12:40 PM

sorry i don't have any pics o f the set up -- i need to start taking more of everything---
just be sure to mock it up with everything in place to make sure that your hoses have enough room for clearance -- the less fittings the better...
