GM 8.1 Fix
 

Looks like there is finally a true factory fix to the 8.1 excessive oil use issue. Just left my local GM dealer during a normal interval service. He indicated that there is a new bulletin just issued that replaces, under warranty, the "PCV" valve with a redesigned valve. Seems this was determined to be the cause of the oil usage. Sure hope this ends the long saga over oil usage. I was unable to get the bulletin number, the guy was out at lunch during the time I was there. If any body comes across the number let us all know!

The bulletin # is 01-06-01-029. It says it only covers 5.3 liter and 6.0 liter engines. But could possibly not be updated yet.
