After pulling my carb. apart a few times I finally got it to idle and run good. I'm not sure what the problem was it wasn't obvious but it must have been dirty somewhere. I've had it out two times breaking it in and it seems to be running good. Thank you everyone for your help!

I am loocking to make 625-650 hp out of them but i dont know how i can get this hp and with wich mod to get it ???
I have the gen 6 525sc with CMI headers.

The simple way to get close to that HP is to just bolt a chiller on the stock 525SC and up the true boost to about 7.5 lbs. with a smaller top pulley. The engine will be as, or more, reliable than in stock form. Had a pair for 7 years and both made high 630's and ran flawlessly. Nothing but oil changes and an occasional set of plugs, most reliable motors I have ever owned.

I think you had a generous dyno. That is a 50-60hp upgrade.
To make 625-650 you are going to need a roller cam, better heads and a probably at least a 250 blower, or better yet a carbed whipple blower.
Also, the small pulleys for the Merc 177's are pretty much an extinct item. I just sold one that I had. He said he gained about 1.5-2mph which translates to 30hp or so.

If I remember right, had this combo for eight years and sold over six years ago, the upgrade, chillers and pulley change, was claimed to be worth 70 ish on a stock motor. Mine had the CMI E Tops as well, which were worth a few more over the original Gills. Regardless of the number it was a very strong and reliable set up. I ran them for 7+ years with no issue at all. Last I heard they are still running pretty strong.

great thread. oldie but goodie
So one CAN take a healthy 330HP Stock Merc 454 and add a 177 without it going "poof" IF:
- enough good fuel (1/2-inch lines, minimize filters and run 93
-keep boost sub 5#
-keep basic timing and existing cam, heads, and distribs
-stats 140s
-oversized oil coolers
-keep RPMs below 4800rpms
Missing anything?
