Maybe a stupid question, but why dont more CC's have stepped hulls?

It's because CC's were originally fishing boats and the fishing guys go out in big water all the time since the goal is FISH and not FAST. They wanted stability and drivability and no nuances that our stepped hull boats can sometimes give. The fishing guys only want to fish. So offshore CC's were made to fish. Then, some folks started using them for other than fishing the last few years and they started appearing on the radar screen of the non fishing recreational boater. There are a few with steps now like the Fountain and Donzi and I hear Contender will build one.

This was our 1st sea trial on the 41. We're closer to 80 now!

Are CC the future?

No more than wind or solar power was the future when they were introduced 30 years ago.

I'm in the market if anyone knows of a great deal!

Perfomance boats all the way. Love the sound, the ride, and nothing like laying out on the pad to catch some rays. But if you're in Fl. going thru no wake zones all day, then they are worthless. To get anywhere, you're plowing creating wake. So CC's have their place, even if you don't fish. Wish I could afford to have one of each.

I see the dual purpose of it I guess but its kind of one or the other. I remember when the fish and ski came out and everybody was clammering that the days of the 16-22ft speed boat were over. Well not really fish and skiis have their place but will never be a Four Winns, rinker, sea ray etc.

I have been reading through this thread again, and I think there is a wide casam here. The problem with performance boating is it chews people up and spiths them out. You throw enough rods, you puke enough tranys, you look at enough bloody marys spilled on your carpet, refrigerator doors falling off, microwaves exploding, a boat full of freon because the A/C took a crap again and you start thinking "this is crap, and I'm done". I know I don't want a fishing boat, but right now it's the best alternative. I think this may be an evolutionary step towards the real future of performance boating.

Not particularly, GL, but there are a bunch of them that can run 12 to 20 mph above that—and even faster.

Definitely not anywhere near as fast as your ride.
