Trailer bunk carpet again.

Just stopped by Home Depot as I remember someone saying the Fish and Ski carpet worked well but they do not have anything by that name. I found some 16.5 oz black stuff that may work. Any other suggestions?

The Fish'n'Ski was exactly what I used; in gray/charcoal. I do not know what to say. Was the stuff they had an indoor/outdoor deck covering type of carpet?

Yes, but they had a whole bunch of different types.

Well, I looked at the stuff they offer from Boater's World and West Marine, and neither was going to completely cover my bunks. so I found something that was for what I could tell, the same; from Home Depot. I have been very happy with it. I do not like the rubber backed stuff, as it will hold water against the wood, and hold water against the boat. Go with something that has an open back mesh, and does not want to flake apart at the edges.

They did carry a heavy grey felt in the carpet dept at Home Depot. I bought a pile of it for my bunks in 2000. it is a felt, not a loop carpet, and is really perfect for the job. You can staple with stainless staples, or use liquid nails adhesive- I did both.

It was only about $1.60 per linear foot, I think 60 or 72 inches wide. It is about as thick as a Papa John's Pizza box (belch) (new measurement system to replace the crappy metric units) (belch).

There was also a loop carpet that color matched. I will check on it and post back.

The bunk carpet at home depot is a dark grey heavy felt.
I was there today 5/26/02-

Islander Marble
SKU #632-528
6 ft width
$1.64 per linear foot

Before I installed it I took a grinder to the wood and radiused the edges, especially the corners.

They also do carry carpet called fish n ski. You may have talked to a brain-dead K-mart reject or something...
