IMCO SC blown - 1300hp
 

Powerboat, June, p 44. This may be old news, but............ That IMCO SC they put behind the (1300hp) Daytona Eliminator (144 mph)................ got it from a good source that the drive blew within something like 10 miles of initial testing...........

I'm not bashing anyone - I'm suppoda get my SC next week..... But I'm pushing about half that power....

Sortof have to power up to find the next weakest link. If IMCO can make it last behind the 1300hp test bed boat , now they have something.

That new IMCO SC drive is supposed to handle something like 750 foot pounds of torque with about a 5000lbs boat. If you're running a twin engine boat then it will handle 10,000lbs of weight. 1300hp is pushing it quite a bit I would say. Merc is supposed to have a new "Sportsman" drive coming out sometime in the near future. I guess it's supposed to close the gap between the BRavo and the SSMasters. I haven't seen it yet though. Anyone know where a website is that would show a picture of this new drive by Merc???

Powerboat has an article on the Sportmaster drive in it this month. If I remember correctly, the drive is not supposed to be any stronger then the xr. It has a nose cone on the bottom to help prevent blowouts.
