WOW!! I wont hijack the thread to talk about whether you should get getting insurance or not. But apparently you never have meet Murphy. Remember chit happens! Always better to be prepared when it does.

What happens when the wave runner cuts you off and you swereve to avoid the jackass and plow into the boat that was passing you? Have everyone sue the guy on the wavrunner or loose everything you own because you were dumb enough to think you know everything that happens around you?

If he wants to talk about frivolous lawsuits imagine being on the receiving end - someone sees the "go fast" guy and immediately sues you. THAT is what insurance is for.
And no Crosset - I have never been in a courtroom, filed a lawsuit, or contacted a lawyer.

I can ALMOST see if you have a 10-20K boat where you might not want to pony up for insurance. The boat this guy is looking at is almost 50K.

Ah, ok. I'm surprised that 500 horse power and it being a cat got that response from the insurance company.
I'm 28 and insurance on my 330 horse 60 mph baja is $180 annually through these guys.

Another fine example of someone with "good" judgement

I understand Murphy's law, but where exactly do you draw the line? Would you insure a jet ski? What about a sunfish? A kayak?
