It hurts to bite my tongue this hard!!!!! lol
Crosset - The point of my commenting here is not to fault you in any way for your decision to not carry insurance. It is your decision to make. I do want to point out something to you from my standpoint. 90% of my boater's claims are for incidents that were FAR beyond our client's control... no matter how careful you are, you can't control other people. At a minimum, invest in a liability only policy.... on a 24 Baja it will run you around $267 per year..and will provide coverage for you, guests on your boat and any unforeseen incident. full coverage is only $573 (approximately). To me, it just seems to be such a minimal cost for peace of mind. But you are entitled to your opinion. I just wanted to point out the above to you based on my experience.

I do have insurance on my baja, it's $180 a year through Sea Worthy Insurance. The plan was to ditch it when the note is paid off, but maybe all you guys will tell me enough horror stories i'll change my mind. I just look back at all the money i've spent on insurance over the years and it seems like a complete waste.

Crossett, I apologize for the statement earlier. Rude. I hope you never have to deal with someone filing a claim against you.

I often times feel like that too with insurance premiums (and i sell insurance!) but recently I was in a bad car accident caused by an uninsured driver when I was was sitting at a dead stop on the off ramp from a freeway. He hit us going 60mph! My Tahoe was totalled and I had to go to the ER because I was 12 weeks pregnant at the time. Needless to say lots of property damage and medical bills later, we found out he didn't carry insurance. Thank god, I did carry it and carried a very high limit of uninsured motorist coverage to cover my medical bills and ambulance ride.
All turned out fine but I would hate to have been out of pocket $45K to cover my vehicle for something some uninsured driver did...
Keep the coverage on the boat! And try not to add up how much you've paid in the past... that can be a scary number at times. haha

A friend who saw the accident called me and I rushed down there and my baby was crushed in the back seat and stuck in her car seat covered in blood.
The fire department was using the "jaws of life" on this crumpled car and I tried to jump in there with my own hands of life to get my baby out of that mess.
I WILL never forget that horrible day. She was ok after a visit to the hospital. I am so glad your little one and you made it out ok. Dan
