The fire department was using the "jaws of life" on this crumpled car and I tried to jump in there with my own hands of life to get my baby out of that mess.

I WILL never forget that horrible day. She was ok after a visit to the hospital. I am so glad your little one and you made it out ok. Dan
Oh my god! That is horrible!!! I got chills just reading that. I swear that babies have special guardian angels

The Tahoe we were in held up pretty good for the blow we took from this car. My car was deemed totalled. When we went to get a new vehicle, we got another Tahoe. I guess I feel safe having a newborn in a vehicle that allowed us to leave that accident without a scratch on us.

Considering your thought process I would draw the line on your 95 24' Baja. Why waist the $180 per year since the boat is not worth insuring and you obviously are never going to do anything wrong that would involve personal injury or property damage.

Well, now that we have completely trashed Trevor's thread... Welcome to OSO!

But, one thing to take away from this, there is much more to the cost of boat ownership that the initial cost.

Insurance is obviously one of them. A tow vehicle, yearly upkeep, and yes, upgrades because you will start thinking about them way sooner than you think.

And of course the cost of fuel, but as most anyone here will tell you, that is a minor cost compared to the cost of ownership of a high performance boat.

Good luck with whatever you end up going with!

LMAO!!!

I sure didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest against Crosett's mindset, it was just my take on his comment very early in this thread.
I'm certain that his annual premium stings a bit once in a year, or twice in 6 months. But if you broke it down with a 20% down payment and made 9 monthly notes it wouldn't be so bad.
Hell, I drop that same coin at least 3 times a week after work to purchase a 12 pack of Coors Light and a box of Marlboro 100's.

The peace of mind from protection is priceless
and if you ever had to execute a claim or had one filed against you it would be the same.

$hit happens every day to many people who didn't expect it.
Some are covered and some aren't, I'd just never want to find myself in the 2nd group. I'm probably one of the best customers an agency has, I carry double the state minimums on our family stuff and triple on my company trucks.
I may *itch to beat the band when I pay, but in my heart I know it's money well spent if an accident or a loss of my property occurs.

See ya,
Kelly

Stacy and ElimiNordic I'm so glad you and your babies are ok.

Trevor welcome to OSO. Listen to Stacy and get insurance[FROM HER]. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

You won't like that little cat on Texoma. It's too small for that rough lake. Buy that Apache and don't look back. Your insurance will be cheaper too.

I personally don't think its alot of ponies. I was just saying that often times, guys see boats and think they are a great price without taking into consideration the actual cost of ownership. First time Cat insurance without documented boating experience is tough to get and the price is high, Just wanted to suggest getting an insurance rate before buying. Makes "cents" to me, I like to know what I am getting into upfront.

Because I believe in personal responsibility and don't think insurance is mandatory?
Eschewing insurance is personally irresponsible.
