Performance Cruiser would be my guess..depends on the crowd..most novice would just say "cigar boat" or "go fast" boat. Depends which way you take the boat..if you had more high performance you will have a high performance boat..if you add more cup holders and a grille and curtins..you will have a cruiser..as it sets..I would say performance/cruiser. What does baja call it or your insurance?
Here's a link to some pic's and questions I had about her during our negotiations with the contract. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/b...know-boat.html It hasn't made it out of the indoor starage yet in New Hampshire for the vessel/powertrain surveys and the sea trial. The insurance I was quoted came in a little over a 1000 per year. It really sucks that I talked to the seller Saturday and he said they'd had 18 more inches of snow the night before, now it could be mid May before it's available to be gone over. 4bus, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go off topic and hijack your thread. Personally I'd love to own a 40'+ diesel Mainship performance trawler and any 35'+ OL. NorTech, Cig etc.. to truly enjoy both worlds in. But, I sure don't see that happening, LOL!!! See ya, Kelly |

When I asked the dealer what the top speed was he said "Does it really matter?" I put my tail back between my legs and stopped talking, as my he and wife talked about how to go about changing the curtain colors. Guys.....it really hurts |
Not enthused about the side view, but the cockpit and cabin made me interested. Love cockpit galleys. Sleeps six, not bad for a 30

Was the flybridge added later? Seems like you want your radar up high with the least amount of obstructions (obstructions = blind spots on a radar). You are even looking down on your anchor light! :)

It worked great for me I didn't hear a peep out of her when I bought some new Eddie Young motors last year for mine....although she does make a few snide comments about my "girlfriend" from time to time....lol |
I would have waited on the Sonic......sorry for your loss.

Has this ever happened to you??? Here's the scenario..... You stop at a red light in your brightly painted, loud, hot rod Mustang GT or Camaro - girlfriend in the passenger seat. A Saab turbo pulls up next to you with a yuppie driver, window up and AC running. He gives you the eye just before the light turns green...You figure this will be easy and you let the yuppie jump you out of the gate. Then as he's pulling you hard through second gear you grind the crap out of third while sweating bullets trying to get around the guy. Finally you barely pull ahead just before you get to the next light. Then, you make up some mechanical BS story to your girlfriend on why you didn't blow his azz clean off the road. My dad was riding on the back seat that day on the poker run and he's 260# That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |

Part of the reason I like the idea of a cruiser this year is I hope I won't have to wrench on it.....that one looks like it requires some wrenching |

I thought this one would be great for Florida all the way up here. Close to 60 mph with twins, it's a bowrider, cockpit galley, pretty large cabin.
The last two years, some of these builders have done some serious rethinking. I love the cockpit galley, and what they done for cabin room. http://www.boatingmag.com/boats/crui...7-ssx?page=0,1 |

http://www.fourwinns.com/model/V305/photos_video Love the layout Not that I would spend 300k plus on a cruiser, but this is the most use of space I have ever seen, and twin BBC. Full bow rider, deck boat with a real full size cuddy underneath. http://www.chaparralboats.com/2011/c...13&page=images |
I see we had our eyes on the same boat .
I'm dying to see one in person. Nice to see someone's actually thinking outside the box at the boat companies now. For more of a cruising and sleepover boat, the new Four Winns is also pretty fantastic. Huge cabin/cockpit for a 30'. |

Mat, was it your boat that instilled so much fear in her that she jumped out of the drink and ran for her life, LOL!!! Way to go!!! That is certainly one wicked cool pic of a cruiser at speed. See ya, Kelly |

I have 18 foot of beam on mine the hull is certified for 49 passengers. For go fast, I can pull the 18 Donzi up on the lift. Who needs a little stabbin cabbin when you have 3 staterooms anyway?
For the engine buffs, it has 2 1271 TI's and 2 15kw gens in walk in engine rooms. I would not apologize for having a cruiser. |
Can't we just have the best of both worlds? http://www.thelifeofluxury.com/the-w...-luxury-yacht/

I was looking at an '89 272 Formula and went with a '90 270 Sundancer (290 by todays standards) and I now have an arch!. The 272 had small blocks and the 270 has a single 454 Bravo1. My wife really liked the cruiser and the cabin is awesome. The open deck space is very nice too. We still have three boats and the Carlsons still get used for skiing and tubing. We hope to travel this summer and spend some days living on the Sundancer and relaxing. I said I would give it a try and we now spend twice as much time on the water and nights out on the hook. It all depends on the lifestyle you want, Mike.

The seller was in MI and my tow vehicle then was too small! One of my favorite factory paint jobs. http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...hedriveway.jpg |
I used to hang with a bunch of cruiser guys....said "used to" because almost all of their boats are now either dry docked or sold.....but what I find with those things is their just waterborne mobile party platforms.....you can eat/sleep/party on them really well but they are no fun to drive whatsoever.....take a fast corner and there is s hit flying all over the place.
They used to say that my boat "is too one dimensional"...I would say "NO....your boat is too one dimensional....the only thing that thing does well is party".....theres no comparison between going for an all day cruise (actual boating!) in my boat compared to a cruiser....the speed/handling/acceleration, no comparison.....in actuality they almost never went on an all day cruise.....their idea of a "run" would be to cruise out to the various nearby party spots (no more than an hour of actual "boating") and party all day then come back...it gets old.....in reality many cruisers in our Marina never leave the dock.....we have a lot of water up here and my idea of a run is to be out for 9 or10hrs with at least 5 or6 of it underway, the bulk of it at my economical 35 - 40mph cruise speed taking in the sights with occasional blasts to 65....actual boating!...the cruiser guys would do something like that once a summer and it would be their "big trip".....we do this every weekend They overnight more comfortably than me but as my wife once said "its not about how much stuff you can bring its about how much stuff you can leave at home....." |

If you think going fast is expensive .
Buy a Cruiser use it for a year or two then sell it because it wasn't what you thought it would be . I found out . Paul |
I sure hope my wife doesn't find this thread.:lolhit:

You would be surprised how much that has changed. I just left working on private yachts, but still have many friends who do. This winter my friend went to the carribean from florida on the yacht he works on. It cost $38000 in fuel each way, for the owners to have a one week vacation. Many yachts are sitting now since the cost is so high. Now I am not saying that it is a big concern, but for the price of fuel, anyone of these people can fly anywhere they want and have the most bad azz hotel penthouse around. So people really are not using the yachts as much as previous years.
That being said, I would not trade that for an overnight on the big boat. The trip is half the fun. Many don't get the cruising thing. Those that do, love it. I always have and will. I don't really see them as an alternative to fast boats, just another dimension. Me, I just love being on the water. Taking a slow cruise down the gorge is great. I also had a great time blasting down the gorge at 85 last weekend. |
