I know that this is just penny's compaired to what some of you guys have invested in this sport but here it is. I have $20,000 cash to buy an offshore boat. I have had a 211 liberator and recently sold a powerquest 237 stryker. Powerquest was an awesome boat for the money but I would like to try a cat or a classic offshore boat. So if you had $20,000 cash would you go in debt and get that awesome boat that will blow everyones mind or...
What would you do????

with 20k cash your going to be hard pressed to get into anything over 24ft unless its really old. Even old boats arent that cheap unless they need a lot of work. But You can find Formulas, Baja's, checkmates that are 24-29ft in that price range. I have never seen a fountain, cig, hustler for that cheap regardless of age.

What kind of truck do you have? You'll need a full 1-Ton for that - and SHOULD have a dually..... TRUST me on that one....

The problem with an older 30+ twin engine boat, is that the purchase price is the cheapest part. When you only paid 20K for it, and is only worth 20K, it is really hard to justify spending the money to maintain and repair.
Like the Chris Cat above. I would be all over that, but could see spending at least the purchase price on repairs and maintenance in a matter of 1-2 years of normal use. That is being generous and assuming that the motors are good.

I have a dodge 2500 with cummins. Pulling that cafe would be no problem. I like that old chris cat but I see where you are coming from on the cost of maintenance.
