Default What heads do you think

I am building a 454. I am going to use the same pistons as the 525 sc and the same super charger. I am looking at the Dart iron 308 and the Dart Iron 345. What do youll recommend. I am trying to make about 600 hp. I am putting these motors in a 1999 Forumla Fasttech. This boat was a race boat so I am seeing what it will take to hit 85 to 90 mph.

the 345's might be a little on the big side with your small cubic inch. the 308's will probably work better. call bob madara at marine kinetics and have him grind you some nice cams for your application

I saw a post the otherday that somebody had an intercooler for the 177 for sale. I have been reading up on this thinking about eventually doing a 525sc clone when its motor time. From what I have learned the 177's make a lot of heat as the boost goes up. The other option would be to use a little bigger blower. The 177s do make a nice whine when you have them spinning

I would increase get the comp ratio to somewhere between 8-8.5:1 instead of the stock 7.5:1. That will allow you to run a little less boost and make more power.

I agree if he was fresh water boating or closed cooling. Being in Jacksonville I would think he would be all salt so iron may be a better choice. I have seen pics of anodized AFRs badly corroded on the machined internal surfaces.

+1 on that ..... we made over 850hp with 315AFR's and Bob's Cam . He supplied the whole top end .... 8.25CR M3 Procharger@7lbs 5600 ... If you need help with machine/setup/ assembly call Mark Hedrick here in Jax .....
600HP will get you right at 85-91.... If your 353 has the gutted interior/light weight should do better ...... best I have seen this summer is 94mph not even pushing it hard ....Holley EFI shows 66% max throttle ...m
