Thanks for the link but those don't really get me the look I'm going for. Those appear to be the shape of a standard pop up but with the attachment style of a mushroom. I'm looking to minimize the on deck visible hardware. My reasoning for using two of the double eye pins at the stern and amidships is that I can have one with a finder attached and one with a single line attached for normal use but would have the ability to attach two other lines with half hitches etc from other boats or docks. In the case of a gas dock we'd just pull out our fenders and attach their lines to the open eye on the fender pin. I hope that makes sense.

I'm really just trying to confirm they are strong enough to hold the boat under normal conditions. As for the gel destroying missiles that's just a matter of who's operating the lines...

This is very true. The push pin style look great but they are a nuisance. You can't ever throw a line or bumper... those pins are pretty heavy and they knock a pretty big chip in the paint. Especially when tying up to other boats. Now you have to watch your pins on your boat and the guy you are tying up to.

As far as having your bumpers at a "standard height" for all docks... it just doesn't work out like that. Not all docks are the same height.

I've been a gas dock attendant for almost 10 years. I've tied up every boat under the sun and, in my opinion, the push pin cleats are often troublesome.
