or Livorsi will exchange your old antenna for the update antenna for $185.00 + shipping

Dave M 04-19-2011 08:07 AM

Or, throw the antenna in the garbage and wire it to your GPS. :drink:

Thanks Boatnt I am going to take it in this week I just hope we have on of those stores around us.....:party-smiley-004: I heard they won't even fix the batterys any more at Livorsi:eek:

SHAWN DAVIS 04-19-2011 08:28 AM

I had problems soldering the batt back in, ended up having a terminal loose and had to send it in.

And weld them on in the correct orientation!

There was a thread on this subject in Technical a while back. One guy said he just super glued a new battery in. I tried that method as it seemed too easy. Didn't work. Soooo, back out it came and went to Batteries Plus for proper repair. If this doesnt work I will wire it to my GPS.

What a PITA design!

blownincome 04-19-2011 01:26 PM

there are 3 small indents in the bottom of the antenna i screwed 3 dry wall screws in a thin piece of wood to line up with them then unscrewed the top

sunsation96 04-19-2011 01:40 PM

I also will be trying to get it fixed this week, I hope this works then my boat will be 100%!

Quinlan 04-19-2011 02:50 PM

I cant even get the cover off mine. Do they unscrew or just pop off?

boatnt 04-19-2011 02:55 PM

unscrew

Replace with a Garmin antenna

I just replaced mine with a Garmin GPS17-HVS antenna.

Red to red

Black & Yellow to Black

White to orange.

No more battery issues in the antenna.

Back4More 04-20-2011 05:42 PM

Has anyone tried their's after they installed a new battery. Livorsi said the older ones need to be recalibrated also.
So I brought them my dead one and ponied up for the replacement antenna for my series Speedo.

Next time I just might try that...wiring it to my Garmin output leads.

How do you wire it to your Garmin. My gps speedo is not working either and i was told to send it to livorsi and they'll send it back fixed. I figured I'll leave it dead since I have a very nice Garmin..

Real easy, connect the blue wire from the gps harness to the signal wire on the speedo. Then go into the "Comm" menu on the gps and make sure NMEA output is selected.

dodgeman111 04-21-2011 03:38 PM

I'll be doing that. Thanks

teamsynergy 04-21-2011 04:23 PM

To all... and note to self... while trying to re-solder the tabs on the new battery for my GPS speedo, too much heat on battery causes battery to explode... FYI... just buy a new antenna... lol

Signal wire on my speedo was the orange. Unless you have an amp connector tool and a new connector and pins that fits the speedo it's easiest to cut the factory antenna harness and solder the orange wire to the NMEA output wire from your gps.

If you don't have a gps you can connect the antenna direct as I did.

Yes, the wire on the speedo side is orange. My speedo came with an extra connector that just had the signal wire. So. I plugged it in to the speedo and spliced the blue from the GPS to the orange on the speedo.

GLH 04-22-2011 07:30 AM

I got rid of my GPS speedo, I have speed on my GPS and the handheld attached to my dash...

sunsation96 04-22-2011 07:53 AM

Going to the battery store this weekend to try and get the battery replaced. Do you guy's really think they have to be recalibrated after? I don't buy it?

I was just headed to your side of town to ask you:lolhit: Thanks for the help I hope this works! Good idea I will also check it, just can't see why a battery change would affect the unit.

offthefront 05-03-2011 06:43 PM
