I use Ebay too. I will shop websites and get answers and research then get the part numbers and check Ebay. Ebay is always the cheapest.

and you get what ya pay for as well :coolcowboy: i would rather be dealing with C.P.Performance or Livorsi if i have a problem with an item ,or need a additional or different gauge 1 call & next day its here :drink: try that on Ebay

It depends on what it is. But why pay somebody double when Ebay gives you the same part half the price, free shipping and is at your door in 2-3 days. Vs another shop might have to order it themselves then ship it to you. And you pay double. Sure if you are buying an expensive product or something but if your looking at normal maintenance or an average part, why not ebay if its the same part.

if its the same part, how do you say you get what you pay for. And people on Ebay do the same thing with shipping.

If you buying a spark plug or a pair of socks :eek:maybe, depending on what seller your buying from and there feedback something like possibly a gauge, or a depth finder where you need some technical assistance with wiring & how to help theres always someone at Livorsi,Teague, or C.P. your ebay idear is always emailing back and forth with seller and NO PHONE #s ....and depending on who your dealing with a place like Teague has boatloads on the shelf and surely dont need to call in your order and drop ship H@ll they got more CMI heaaders on the shelf then the factory ....carry on :coolcowboy:

I agree with you man and Ebay isnt always the best price and you have to be careful who you buy from. And like you said if you need assistance then probably go with somebody thats reputable. Tottally agree. But EBAY is a nice tool if you know what you want and have researched the product out. Like I said there is no point in paying double for a part just because Don arrow store sells it or Reggie Fountains store is selling it.

Great example i needed an impeller the other day. Well looked at Mercruiser parts online and one these websites listed in this thread. Both wanted over 30 bucks shipped for the impeller. Well I got on ebay and got the part shipped for 15 bucks. Got a genuine merc part in hand, half the price and what expertise do I need for this?

But again if im going to spend 500 bucks on a prop or something than yeah maybe somebody listed above is the way to go.

47-59362T1 --IMPELLER (USE W/O KEY) (click here) 47-593621 $25.42

Im not going to sit here and argue. Here is the part it was something like 33 shipped. I paid 16 I think shipped for the same part. I dont know what mark up is for each store simple ecomonics, same product cheaper somewhere else= no brainer. Now the points you listed were for actual service not the parts themselves. and it looks like shrogren jacked it up anyways. The OP asked for good places to buy parts not get them installed. So I gave him options. Ebay or the internety might not be for you or him. Maybe you like to spend money blindly or have an unlimited pocket book. I do not and have to spend a little extra time shopping around.

Kinda like asking for a free estimate when you want work done on your house. Let the contractor do all the research and put in the effort so you don't have to.

Just sayin'.

Estimates are free for a reason, and if you dont want to do them dont do it. or in this case dont have a phone. Whether it be boats or cars etc. I will refuse to go to somebody that does not talk until they see money. Even you yourself when your looking around do you go with the first shop or contractactor you see? Probably not either because you didnt like them, had a change of heart or figured you could do it your self. Its called shopping.

When free estimates only require a few minutes, it's no big deal, but when they require extended travel and multiple hours of work time it's something else altogether.

Unfortunately, in my business, someone once conceived of the notion of free estimates to generate business, but now the majority of the public seems to think its their given right to get one and many even believe the idea our time isn't worth as much as their own.

Do me a favor, next time you want a free estimate, give me a call so I can hang up on you. I'd rather talk to a realistic "prospective" client.

Sorry for the rant...didn't mean to side track the thread.

Happens to me all the time RL. I check a car for a noise or vibration. Use on avage of 1.5 to 2 hours and they say well X will do it for this. Im like you already know the issue and now you want to comepare pricing really???

Well totally understandable and I agree if its a simple phone call estimate or somebody shows up for 30mins or something fine. But on the other side of the table, if you advertise free estimates then you advertise free estimates. Not everybody brings a fair price to the table and lot of contractors try to rip people off.
